I don't understand the people that were claiming that this match was boring (earlier in the thread). I found it exciting from start to finish. Very open game, even though there weren't chances throughout you nevertheless felt the threat an tension on both ends. The extra time was unbelievable, the Italians would have been so unlucky had they not scored considering the two chances early on. What a match! I think it's the most exciting one I have seen this tournament.

    Congratulations Italy.

I think they were just a little bit better - cooler than the Germans. We didn't make our chances, they did. I felt throughout the game that the Italians were more dangerous than we were.

Still, I think the German team played a good world cup and we have been pretty good hosts.

So your first post in a basketbal forum is in a soccer Thread :D Good choise.
You guys were better in the semi's, good luck in the final, and if it is against portugal you have to destroy them, little pay back for the dutch game :D

It was a ridiculous game, pathetic, I really dislike the flopping portugees.
However i do have to say that the Boulharouz foul(his first yellow) was brutal, and a deserved yellow card, However there were 25 fould and 20 cards, that is pathetic. If you look at Italia-Germany there were a lot of fouls which didn't receive a card, which would have been yellow at the dutch game.I just want portugal to loose.

I have two question for you BTW
What do you think will happen with Juventus, fiorentina, Ac Milan etc. and if they get the penalty will some players stay?

In the last WC Italia got on the bad end of ref discisions(against South Korea), and there were a lot of people who claimed that it was fixed. But this year you got on the good end of ref discisions(like the penalty against the Aussies), do people still think the last WC was fixed?

Right now is really difficult to say. For example the penalty for Juventus could be to play in "serie c"(italian third division) and i can't really see any of the actual juventus players playing in serie c. Some players like Del piero or Cannavaro has stated they will play even in serie b(second division) but i guess serie c is too much even for them. We just have to wait the final verdict to know which players will stay on their teams and which not. My guess is that Juventus will end up in serie b and Milan AC will stay in the main division but with a lot of penalty points. So to me probably we will see most of the Juventus players going away(specially stranger ones, like Ibrahimovic Trezeguet Vieira) next year and some will stay, like Cannavaro and Del piero. And for Milan AC my hope is that everyone will stay if it remains in the main division.

I don't think it was fixed. You know, home team always get some ref decisions advantages but here a lot of people just thought the ref advantages was too much in that N.Korea italy match so they end up concluding the whole WC was fixed. I think we did lose that game. Both N.Korea goals were regular and were both caused by defensive error, so i think it was mostly our fault. But, anyway, right now nobody really cares about the past when u get to the WC final beating the european team which hate u most.

Hope u did understand everything, as u can see my english is poor.

italian rocket your english isn't poor at all(altough i'm not the right person to say this, every time we have a spelling competition on this board i make a mistake on the first day, so my english isn't that good). I understood everything you said.

It would be fun to see juve and Ac milan and the others in the serie B. Atleast i think it is funny. I have respect for the players that stay even if their team gets the penalty and they have to play in the serie B, like cannavaro and del piero,

What is your favorite team in Italia?

p.s. It was South Korea not north korea :D

Oh man. I was hoping Germany would win. Now all I care about is that somebody other than France wins. Can you imagine all those frogs celebrating in France if they won? Disgusting.

Elton brands England team a 'disgrace'

    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/03072006/364/elton-brands-england-team-disgrace.html

Sir Elton John has slammed the England football team as a "disgrace" after Portugal knocked them out of the World Cup on Saturday.

The Don't Go Breaking My Heart singer made his feelings public when he made his comments during a gig in Bournemouth, hours after the quarter-final match finished.

John, who is friends with David Beckham, attributed most of the blame to coach Sven Goran Eriksson.

He told the sell-out crowd, "There has not been an outstanding player at this World Cup. I do not even want to talk about that f**king Sven Goran Abba-dabba.

"As always the England fans have been fantastic. They have been let down by the team and let down by people earning GBP125,000 a week.

    "It's a disgrace."

Come on, be serious. We know what german journals had wrote about italians, we know what most german people think about italians, you guys just hate us. That's all. You can not deny it. I don't know, maybe you're not one of those german which think italians are "parasitical forms of life"(definition taken froma Der Spiegel article), or that italians are just capable of eating pizza but most of you think those things, that's why those things appear on your journals. And yes, they offended us but they even gave our players extra motivations for the match. That's the reason why i wrote that, Germany "hate strategy" didn't work.

Milan AC :( Anyway I also think it could be fun to see the 2 most important italian teams in serie b.
    Yeah, sorry for the mistake.

arno_ed why did you put Bergkamp but you didn't put Rijkaard in that list? Shame on you. :p You know, the "three dutches" epoch is still in my heart. :)

SwoLy-D is back everyone. :D (you didn't really need to know that, shameless plug there).

    Clay Aiken passed away? :(
:( I was in Laredo (Hello, Falcons Talon!) for a Quinceañera and I didn't get to see him. :) did he do well?

I could only watch a small portion of the Germany vs. Italy game... I was on the road back to H-town... I lost radio signal too between towns after the rain... :(

I am rooting ITALIA now. I can't believe I said that... hope Portugal wins as well... their goalie rocks *ss and should be an inspiration.

Question for all USA and Italy fans out there... remember that dude that got a four game suspension for elbowing McBride? He gets to "return" in the final. Do you think the coach should leave him out, since Italy has been winning without him since the U.S. - Italy game?

Why do they have an offsides rule? It kind of takes away from breakaway chances.

However, they could integrate this into basketball, a no snowbirding rule. For example, when a defensive team gets the rebound, no player is allowed to be on the other half of the court, so no baseball passes down the floor for guys who are too lazy to play defense.
