Wallace pumps up Bulls 2007 Championship Odds

Sportsbook.com odds change after monster signing - Chicago's surge,
    Detroit's flounder

NEW YORK, July 4 /PRNewswire/ - The Chicago Bulls are looking to rise
again, stealing away Ben Wallace from the Detroit Pistons for a reported
$60 million. The deal won't be finalized before the July 12th moritorium,
but odds have already shifted at sportsbook.com, the world's largest online
    sportsbook and casino.
The Chicago Bulls odds have improved with Wallace on the roster,
leaping from 40-1 to 14-1 to win the NBA Championship in 2007. The Detroit
Pistons odds have fallen from 4-1 to 8-1 with the loss of their starting
center and the League's top defender.
"This is a huge move, Ben Wallace was regarded as the biggest name in
free agency this summer," said Alex Czajkowski, Sportsbook.com. "It was
widely assumed that the Pistons starting line-up would stay in tact so
Wallace heading to a rival club will certainly shake up the Central
Division. Bulls fans may be looking at their best roster since MJ and
    Pippen in the 90's."
The first undrafted player to ever start in an All-Star Game, Ben
Wallace just may be the big man the Bulls have been looking for. The
four-time winner of the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award was a force
in Detroit's success in the 2000's culminating in a championship in 2004.
Bulls GM, John Paxson is putting together all the pieces for a winning
team, in addition to Wallace he has also added LSU star Tyrus Thomas
through the draft and has an option to swap for a first round draft pick
with New York in the coveted 2007 draft.
"Everybody bets on basketball, and at Sportsbook.com the 2007 season
has already started," added Alex Czajkowski.

Wow. Very high for a team that didn't make the playoffs, but these people have obviously done their homework.

That's the power of Yao and McGrady. I think they are assuming both Yao and McGrady are healthy. Depending on the offseason, if Rockets done well in the offseason acquisition, Rockets will go up higher.

Man.. I don't think this is very accurate, the Hornets now have Paul, Peja, Bobby Jax, David West, and other young talent. They almost made the playoffs this year, and have just gotten alot better.. no way they are the 2nd worst team in the west...

They're not saying they're the 2nd worst. The have the 2nd worst odds of winning the West.

They probably factor in the fact that they're in the same division as the Texas Triangle.

wow that is insane for the bulls. way too much buying going on there. I need to check tradesports and see what they have the bulls at.

and even though the hornets won't win the west they are still going to be a very solid team. I can't believe they are that much of a long shot

Peja was never a clutch player, and now he's losing what skills he did have. Jackson is old and his skills are deteriorating as well.
Chris Paul is the only upper echelon player they have. You don't win championships with one upper echelon player, unless you're Cleveland, then maybe, just maybe....

Also, they don't really have them listed as second to worst odds. I guess they do technically, but they are tied with 4 other teams at those odds.

So... who is putting money on the rockets?

Seem like everyone from the NBA... shoe companies... to the bookies are trying to rip some money from the poor fans...

but over the past few seasons both Peja and Bobby Jackson has had alot of tendoncies to break down in health.
And since they are a young team it will probably take them a few years for the core to jell together to be a championship level team.

With the current roster, the Pistons and the Nets seem a little high.

Clipps look like one of the best bets out of the bunch.

Can't believe I just said that.

I agree, Hornets should be higher.. Although they're acquisitions aren't the most amazing, it's still an upgrade over last season's roster. They are definitely better than Golden State at the moment.

Sonics should be ranked lower too. They might be losing Wilcox at this point, Ray Allen is only getting older.

This is how I see the Western Conference ending:

    Suns
    Dallas
    Spurs
    Rockets
    Clippers
    Lakers
    Kings
    Nuggets

Wallace should help the Bulls contend for the Eastern Conference title, but as to beating whatever comes out of the West(hopefully us),good luck.
Take the Rockets at 20-1....Bulls at 14 -1 and the Heat at 4 - 1.If we are healthy and fill in the blanks,I see no reason why we can't come out of the West....

Wow...I am really tempted to just put $20 on the Rockets winning it all. That could potentially be $400 in my pocket by the end of the season!
