i'm not sure if this has been posted but: as we all know the mavs, rockets, and hawks have been in the hunt for mike james. as of today, realgm is reporting that the hawks have agreed to terms with speedy claxton. looks like it's down to the rockets or mavs.
San Antonio Sends: Brent Barry, 07 2nd San Antonio Receives: Luther Head, TE, 07 1st MLE: Greg Buckner/Fred Jones/John Salmons/Bernard Robinson Reggie Evans/Darius Songaila/Francisco Elson/ Scot Pollard Min: Mikki Moore PG: Mike James | Rafer Alston | Bobby Sura SG: Brent Barry | Greg Buckner | Keith Bogans SF: Tracy McGrady | Shane Battier | Steve Novak PF: Reggie Evans | Juwan Howard | Chuck Hayes CN: Yao Ming | Dikembe Mutombo | Mikki Moore
You can use it in two non-simultaneous trades: (1) Brent Barry ($5.12 Mill) for TE ($4.2 Mill +125% + 10K = $5.35) (2) Luther Head ($1.05 Mill) & 07 1st for 07 2nd We receive another $1.05 Mill TE
JVG didnt even draft the 8th pick this season, what makes you think they'll have use for an 07 1st if were want to win now?
Oh man Oh man plz plz plz tell me you are kidding i wouldnt give 5bucks to get BB on this team and you want to give up a first rounder and luther your an dumb or you havent watched basketball in the last 3 years i mean barry is horrible i would no longer be a rockets fan if we gave one of the only promising players in our org. for a guy that i wouldnt let play a single minute on my team!
Actually, I am trying to think like CD and this would seem to satisfy him. We have a big pointguard playing next to Mike James. Barry can bring up the ball on offense and guard the opposing SG on defense. Barry has the mindset we like about Shane Battier. With Buckner backing him up, we'll have an answer for quicker guards. Barry is also a fair rebounder for his position. Barry's length and height is some compensation for our lack of height at PF, especially when Battier plays.
I wanted Barry a few years ago, but that time has passed. Guard opposing SGs on defense? Barry? Brent Barry? LOL! And even if we had a fountain of youth in which to dunk him in, a 2007 first round pick? Plus Head? LOL!
I'm a man man, nobody can squeeze my balls, not even reggie evans not brent barry unless he is in the last year of his contract, 07 1st round pick is too much to give out. Mikki is not bad, but always considered as underachiever Though i like the idea of greg buckner cuz he defends well and shoots decent, except abit undersized You think that we can sign all these players if we signed MJ? Dont think so Btw Bernard Robinson is staying in charlotte for sure
I rather get songalia instead of reggie evans. Song can shoot the 3 at desperate times while reggie evans just watches. I doubt reggie would fit into JVG's system because JVG wants 4s to shoot well and JVG publicly criticized evans for greatest flopper ever seen
I wouldnt even say that Luther Head is better than David Wesley at this point, let alone Brent Barry. Barry can ride the 3 year prime that CD is expecting out of McGrady.
Theres talk that Toronto may be involved in our Gay-Battier trade, in which Toronto takes Stromile Swift and we receive Mike James in a sign/trade.
Barry did reasonably well while Manu was injured. The problem Pop had with Brent Barry was that he couldnt get him going and Barry often fell out of rhythm. At times Pop started Barry so he can get him going, who would eventually help with big shots to free Duncan in the post. Unfortunately, it was hard for Barry to get in rhythm because he was playing behind Manu and Finley at the SG. I think in a starting role he can contribute alot... also remember we would be rotating Buckner, McGrady and Mike James into the SG spot so theres some time to share if he isnt playing his best.
Here is a list of players i think could change our Rockets into a Championship Team. PG - Mike james, Great player who can start at the point We can either keep Alston for backup point or we can get Nick Van Exel from the spurs or Darrel armstrong from the Mavs, Both great backup point guards. If we can keep alston with these aquisitions then its better for us. SG- Latrell Sprewell anyone? Is it possible with our salary? (I dont know much about the money side of trades) He can start for us at the SG. He can be explosive even when he is old. Lets give him another chance for the Championship. I think if he realizes the rockets can bring him to the finals, we can win his motivation. Luther head could be backup SG or we can trade out for JR Smith from the hornets, a good solid backup SG. Or we could get Brent Barry from the Spurs for a backup SG. SF - Mcgradcy start and Battier backup. We can also try and get a 3rd Sf if we need from orlando, a Trevor Ariza, i like his potential and next year could be his break out year. He can shoot and can also finish at the basket. PF- Al Harrington from the hawks said its his last year in atlanta, and i think he can be a nice starting PF if we could get him. If not we can also try Robert horry as the spurs i think are thinking of trading him, as he didn't really have a impact for them in the post season. Another guy we can look into for backup PF is Christian Laettner, former start duke player, he is old but can dish out 5 points per game still as backup. Our lineup could be if everything is right Position Start Backup PG Mike James Rafer alston or Van Exel or Armstrong SG Latrell Sprewell Head or JR Smith or Brent Barry or Ariza( Can also play SG) SF TMAC Battier and Ariza PF Al Harrigton or Robert Horry Juwan Howard C - Yao Mutumbo and Harrington or Horry
