HP the feeling of happiness you gave me has been short lived and actually quite hollow, sort of like a good one night stand that promises to call and never does.....

stop with the teasing, it hurts

    Wrong forum.

Just kidding. Good to see you, heypee. ;)

I was just starting to buy into the "not ready to make an impact" talk. Then I read thacabbage's post, and now I'm depressed again. :(

Just don't accuse others of exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    j/k :D

The wound is to be healed by time, or ripped apart wider, depending on how things turn out.

The problem with thacabbage is when he is most right he is also most depressing.

on a Rockets Fan happy, happy, fun, joy scale of posting....we have Acheba in polyanna-mode on one end of the spectrum and RIET on the other. thacabbage makes sure we understand the problems we have. I kinda always wonder, though, what it would be like to witness the Rockets making thacabbage so happy he slips into polyanna mode. one of these days i'm going to see him in our 3rd parade downtown, and I'll report back my findings about how he can lose his mind right there with the lot of us.

if thacabbage ever got pollyanish...Im convinced the world would promptly cease to exist and be replaced by something even more improbable.

are you sticking around hp...or are you just here to tease the oldtimers with your indiana-farmboy-on-acid posts?

    ;)

dammit....it's Illinois...not Indiana! And it's been a long time since i've posted on cid.

this reminds me....i've been meaning to say....Mr. Bauer, did you think we would have forgotten Mr Bauer. China has a long memory, Mr Bauer. Do not underestimate Yao Ming, Mr Bauer.

I totally concur, there is a lot more to this deal than meets the eye, or at least a lot more to the roster.

You mean, how do I feel in a Feel Good Thread where I get to say Hey to a bunch of oldtimers who it's always fun to chat with ... or how do I feel about draft day. Not sure if i really want to ruin the moment by saying my take....might piss off innocent bystanders.

    but if you insist...lol

actually, i'm not much different than the majority of the bbs on this
it's all been stated by a lot of people. It's been a great read here for the past few days. So, i'd just be saying what's been said over and over, except to say that I consider Yao Ming's improvement post-toe surgery was glorious. I was stunned. I was just about read to get up on ideas of him being a hall of fame level player. Not any more. He is a legitimate stud. I don't think we are missing as many pieces as others are saying. Not with what I saw Yao do in the Spring.

so, to give my take on what to do with a #8 pick....I can't help be first say that Yao Ming is a huge force in the league....much, much different that he was when Dallas beat us 2 yrs ago.

In a nutshell...i agree with anyone who says we overpaid.
I can't argue with waiting and trying to get more for the #8 later in the Summer.
I could really care less about extending the Stomile Swift experiment, but ...yeah maybe..we would have gotten something more for him. But, when the guy gives me nothing for a year, i'm not that concerned to worry about want he could give me, later, in play or trade.
I also agree that Gay fell to #8 for a reason.
I also believe this draft was a sucky draft.
I also always like to trade picks for known NBA veterans, especially in a sucky draft.

If you would have asked me before draft day would I agree with a trade of the #8 for Battier....i would have said..."are you kidding me. y e a h!"

bottomline: i know i'm going to like Battier a lot. and I know the entire league believes Yao Ming is much better than he was when Dallas beat us 2yrs ago. And I know it has been fun to read y'alls takes too.! thx

    You are reading my mind.

If someone asked me how I felt about the trade I would have responded the same way. Thanks for expressing my thoughts on The board.

Do, read my mind.... err, post more often.

On a seperate note, still hanging at the Irish pub? I moved to the Shepard area about a year ago.

IS there *really* a difference??

    ;)

    heh...and you said you weren't fryin.. :p

    maaan, you've changed!

    heh

true...but not that badly. an underacheiver and a unknown quantity with questions about heart.

cant argue with that...if we can see his lack of snap oncourt...surely the pros can see it and will affect his value.

I know from experience you pay attention to alot more of the game when watching than I do...I dont really bother to pay that much attention to other teams...do you feel his qualities as a player are being accurately represented in the coverage of this?

heh...I could do without the kneejerk pessimism, but it certainly has been interesting...and it is pulling a few oldtimers out of the woodwork...which is ALWAYS a good thing.
