I dont know if someone has done this before but im kind of bored. Well my answer is i really don't remember.
Well, I visited the main site for like a year before I figured out the BBS was here. So, I then joined (at the ripe old age of 14, I believe) to share some thoughts I had. I think I found the main site a long time ago while googling for Rockets stuff.
i visited clutchcity.com before it became clutchcity.net, then clutchfans.net i found ClutchCity through Yahoo I believe back in '97. Then when they sold the Clutchcity.com domain to Rivals.com, I thought Clutch literally sold out, until my friend mentioned that they just flipped over to .net in which I felt dumb I didn't get into the BBS until I started getting in forums with a co-workers site (extremetopics.com)that ended up being a famous unitethecows.com P2P website.
Back in the day...my friend turned me to it...i didn't post for a long time and when i did i just got hooked and the rest is history.
Another board, if I remember correctly. Not sure if it's ok to post the name of it, but it's a basketball board with "just" in the name. If you know it, you know it. If you don't, you don't
I visited Clutchfans for some years before i discovered the BBS. I think i did some google search and then i found Clutchcity.com After some time i went to the bbs, but that took me some years before i found it.
A couple of guys and myself were some of the few die hard fans that actually posted stuff in the Yahoo rockets boards back in 98-99 when Yahoo wasn't all that...well one of the guys was a member here...and I never posted on Yahoo again.
Trying to find some info on the Rockets, and up popped ClutchCity.com. I didn't have the nerve to register for a very long time. For some reason, I thought registering meant that I'd have to post, and the cranky vets around here, like Mango and Behad, frightened me. More than these people! (I know some may find perverse pleasure in this photo, but that hurts!)
During the 95 playoff run I was checking out the Rockets usenet group a lot and somebody recommended clutchcity.com. I didn't actually join for years and didn't even realize there was a BBS for the first few years.
Back in 98, when I first got my computer I did a search on the Rockets and Clutchcity came up. For the first four years I had it as my home page, I used it for my Rocket news. Also, I love reading the quotes.
I found it while searching any bit draft information I could find back in 2001. I lurked for about a year before I finally registered after the Rockets on the lottery and I couldnt read the forum. Needless to say other than the Yao Ming pick and Luther Head, I've been pretty much dissappointed with every Rockets draft since then.
It's funny to read when posters found out about Clutch Fans and when they registered to start posting. For some it's a gap of years. New user names? Lurkers? Making up a story to sound cool? No need to explain.
I was searching for Rockets wallpapers and found one of yao mind. saw where it was hosted and decided to check it out.
