How do you even answer this question, we dont win without both of them bein in the lineup. This isnt like Kobe and Shaq, where kobe without shaq led them out of the playoffs, and Shaq without Kobe had a .600 record. This question cannot be answered but ill tell you this. They both have ALOT to prove this year.

Our offence looked stagnant last year because nobody could hit a 3. With Battier, Novak, and possibly Mike James, things will be very different next year. (I still prefer Gay, by the way. We will do well enough with Battier, but we would have done even better with Gay. Sigh.)

I want to vote for T-Mac, but I can't. He might be able to dominate again next season, but I want him to save his back. I want him around as a healthy and productive player for many years to come. So let the dominant player be Yao, and have T-Mac take on the Scottie Pippen role. A 20/6/5 season from T-Mac would be fine with me.

Yao will be the best player, as when he is on you cannot guard him.

However, T-mac will be the most important player, as his play will set the tempo for the entire offense.

    Yao.

    If not, he should be.

I think Tracy will realize he can save himself a lot of energy and effort if he just passes the ball into Yao, who can dominate 99% of the post players in the league. Let Yao establish himself early and often, and then let TMac take over the final quarter or so.

Who's better. I don't know but I do know this much: when Yao and T-Mac both play the game the Rockets are 72-41. That's all that matters to me, and probably all that matters to them.

Yao gave all the doubters last year a glimpse of the monster he is becoming.
Like Old Man Rock said,Yao Ming was the best player in the league over the second half. And that's the tip of the iceberg. He will be a top 5 all time center.

Simply Yao, but I hope T-Mac stay in healthy and could play as well as he did in 02-04. We could be Champion!!!!!

    Yao.

T-Mac makes himself easy to defend. T-Mac never attacks the hoop anymore, making the perimeter-oriented rules useless for him. This is why he'll either have to change his game or defer to Yao.

    No doubt, Yao.
    Without Yao, Rockets became Boats.

Before Yao's play after coming back from the toe surgery, I would have said Tracy, uninjured, no question about it. As heypartner said in another thread, Yao made HUGE progress after he came back. Just astonishing progress. Superstar, best center in the NBA kind of progress. Now, with a healthy Tracy, and Yao back at that level, it's a wash, and that means deep in the playoffs for the Rockets, whoever is surrounding them.

If McGrady drive more and not sticking only to jumpers next season, it will be McGrady (he still has to take care of his back). But at this moment, I say Yao. Lookout, Yao is going to improve even more next season. He will be the Beast of Beasts. ;) However, McGrady will still be important during the 4th quarter. Yao get my vote.

Uh, yeah, my answer stays the same. TMac is our best (wow, I am thinking performance) player but it is more important for Yao Ming to be a beast because it is a given with TMac (if healthy). It is almost a given with Yao I just want to see how his wheels are this year.

    Why no Battier?
Yao will be jaded because of this tiring summer.
T-mac's Broken Back is a big question.
And Battier is Smart. He is exactly JVG's type.
He can get a lot of chances while T-mac is off court.
And When Yao is in, He will get more wide open opportunities.
    I guess next season:
    Top scorer: tmac
    Top rebounder: Yao
    Top Efficiency: Battier

Battier will play more than 75 games while Yao and Tmac play 50 games each.

    I chose McGrady.

At his best, he's one of the top three gamebreakers in the NBA.

Yao Ming is scary good, too, and I almost couldn't even vote in the poll. I would just love to see McGrady and Yao, both at their best, back next season.

They could arguably be better than Shaq and Kobe were together. I also feel that our supporting cast is better than what the Lakers had, although the NBA game has changed a little bit, even in that short time period.

With a healthy TMac and a healthy Yao (especially how he finished the season), I don't know if anyone can compete with us.

If Yao Ming is truly at the next level, which I really believe he is, Rockets basketball may have never looked this good.

I think our most important player should be Yao... and our best player should be Tmac...

I really think the offense should flow through Yao... as he should get the most touches...and take the most shots...

I think our best player Tmac should look to break down the other teams defense driving to the net more..... but look to pass more... take less shots..

    I vote for Tmac.

After a disappoint season, Tmac will be back and prove everybody he still is the top 3 of the NBA. Do you notice how Tmac do that 30 seconds for 13 points? That is because he want to do it. Now he will want to do it again. So I say, Tmac will be extreamly good next season. Yao will be too.
Can not waiting to see them both healthy and break all other teams.
