I like Bogans, but he's not ready yet. His shot needs to improve A LOT.

He shot at a pretty good %. Plus according to the article we are not going to give head and a pick, we will be giving our 4.2 TE that will increase 12.5% every year. Pretty good deal to me since we will still have our MLE to play around and keep HEAD.

I'm pretty sure we're not offering him Head to sign with Houston. (SCNR)

And the rest of your post is pretty much inaccurate ... the Rockets never regretted trading Jim Jackson (they benefitted immensely, actually), and Bogans was traded for Lonny Baxter, not Wesley. Not to mention the semantic inaccuracies of the entire statement...

I like the idea of putting our best players on the court at the same time as starters.

if things go as I believe management plans then the starting lineup would be:

    Yao
    Battier
    T-mac
    James
    Rafer

This is ok with me. Put t-mac on the best opposing perimeter player.

put Battier on the second best.

    James and then Alston.

Yao taking care of the paint.

there are very few teams that are going to have the fire power to overcome that defense even with the lack of height of that starting lineup (no jokes about Yao breaking the curve... You guys have had the Vietnamese eggrolls at Yao's, right?)

We also have the new guy, what's his name, to hang outside and hit threes all night long.

If we somehow manage to score a bruiser 4 we could be versatile enought to match up with anyone.

I have no problem giving up height to have James and Alston on the court at the same time. Our whole starting lineup would be scary good at taking care of the ball. I can see some showtime passing happenin' if we can shake off the curse of last year.

I believe in karma. This is somewhat bolstered by science which states "every action has an equal and opposite reaction".

I think we paid a hell of a debt last year and that this year it will all come back to us.

The only question I have concerning Mike James pertains to chemistry. I see potential for magic and potential for more broken hearts. I think in the end Karma and Yao will pull us through.

Here's to the start of basketball season (and the end of baseball season)

    Cheers,
    Brock

if we wanted to go small, and we still had swift, we would have james at sg, rafer at pg, tracy at sf, battier at pf, and swift at center. they are all athletic except for battier, and could run the floor pretty good.

1st AND 2nd round picks? Too much! I would say, 1st OR 2nd round ... but why Chandler if we have Yao? Or maby Chandler as starting PF, Yao makes 30pt per game next season so Chandler can block shots and defend like a beast! I like the sound of that ... AND Roy starting SG! Wooow, that would be awesome! :D

Ok, do a S&T with the Raptors for Mike James. We give the raptors a 2nd round pick for their efforts and Raptors accommodate James' agent which is good will for them in future agent negotiations.

Then use the MLE on Fred Jones. Even thought the Pacers lost Peja, they are on record as saying they will match offers for Jones, but wont break the bank. If the Rockets used their FULL MLE on Jones, the Pacers might not match that offer with guys like Stephen Jackson, Grainger, Sarus already on board.

I like a James/Jones backcourt. BTW, Fred Jones is 6'4" and not 6'2". Fred Jones is VERY atheltic and a huge dunker. Really a hard nosed player. To me he plays bigger than 6'4". A James/Jones backcourt is a HUGE upgrade atheltically from last years. Much more durable and much quicker. Jones can create his own shot. And he is unselfish. Also a good defender. Not a great 3pt shooter, but that's ok with the other guys on the team.

Mike James, Fred Jones, Tmac, Battier, Yao. Nice lineup!

I think the meet half way that James speaks about is he wants a 5 yr deal and we're offering a 3 yr deal so he'd settle for a 4 yr deal. I think he'll still make us wait a little to see what all the offers will be.

And I totally agree with ima_drummer, we are really lucky that he doesn't hold a grudge about being traded last year.

Mike thank you and come home!

I've noticed something again in this thread that seems to be an undercurrent: Some here are almost forgetting about Tracy and only focusing on Yao. I've got news for you, if Tracy is healthy next season he will be our best player, not Yao.

I'm going to do a poll and take the forum's pulse on this. Tracy had a bad year (for him), much of it because injury. He played hurt a lot, it affected his shooting % and made him very gun-shy about driving to the basket to get easy shots.

All good calls. James, Jones, or Claxton, anyone of those three will help. It'd be great if we can land two.

I see Mike James as our starting PG, with the other half of his time being played at the 2guard. Rafer is the PG who should be coming off the bench, and he'd be great in that role.

I disagree,a healthy Yao in his present phase of maturation is the guy the offense should go through. He is and will be the anchor for the next 8 -10 years.

The same reason Sam played behind Kenny. It's not who starts, it's who finishes. Give them both playing time and who ever is playing better gets to play the 4th quarter.

I know James is better than Rafer but that's beside the point. Actually, that is the point. I like the idea of having a scorer as our 6th man. Energy off the bench is something we need and didn't have last year.

I posted that as well, but upon looking at a few sites, NBA.com/Yahoo they list him at 6'2". So I am not sure which is right. I do know that Jones plays a lot bigger than 6'2/4". The guy is strong, quick and has great ups. And he is YOUNG. That's what matters.
