Any word on whether he will be given a shot at making the team next year?

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but sorting through all the garbage last year I thought he would make a nice specialty shooter off the bench, even with Novak now with us. He really had a nice stretch if I remember correctly before getting hurt. I think we could use him before someone like Spanoulis.

As of now these are the guys we have locked in next year:
    Yao
    Mutumbo
    Howard
    Hayes
    Novak
    Mcgrady
    Battier
    Head
    Alston
Bowen (we can only hope he is cut)
    Sura (if he doesn't retire)

That's eleven if you count Bowen and Sura. Something tells me Bowen won't be let go either. Add in the MLE player (let's say James), make it 12.

Three spots open, with Frahm, Wesley, Bogans, Darius Washington, Spanoulis, and maybe Eliyashu or some other PF. With the addition of Battier I think Bogans is no longer necessary, and Battier and Head can take over Wesley's minutes. Assuming that we do bring in some other PF or Eliyashu, and knowing the JVG would like 3 PG's on the roster, that comes down to one spot between Frahm, Wesley, and Spanoulis. I think Frahm would be the cheapest and most efficient guy out of those three, and would definitely be a good role player in situations. Spanoulis is unproven and would cost more, and I'd hate to see Wesley limp away from the game playing 10 or 15 minutes a game at the most. Here's the new rotation:

    C: Yao / Mutumbo
PF: Howard / Hayes / (Battier) / (Novak)
SF: Battier / (Mcgrady) / Novak
SG: Mcgrady / (James) / Head / Frahm
PG: Alston / James / D.Washington or other PG

    IR: Eliyashu, Sura, Bowen

IMO, that is a far deeper team with the exception of PF than last year, and you know what you're getting out of just about everyone instead of having uncertanties like Swift and Derek Andersen. The only thing really missing there is a big man to play PF and maybe some backup center.

I would really like to see the Rox resign Frahm. Another year in the JVG system and his solid 3 point stroke would do well for this team. I dont think that there are many shooters like Frahm that will be as inexpensive and that will be able to contribute at the 2.

2 guard and PF are the most thin positions on the roster, sign him up!

I really hope he comes back... I like him a lot. I think he has a nice touch and can really be a good role player.

He should come cheap even though he is a shooter. The Rockets should bring him back.

i think we should get mike gansy instead of him. mike is a good 3 point shooter, hes younger, and hes athletic. but if we can't, then signing frahm won't be a bad idea. i don't think we need a 3rd point guard, but if we do, we could use the smaller trade exception for eddie house.

I'd like to bring in Keith Bogans before Frahm. Keith was asked to play like Tracy last year. He's not Tracy, but he's still a good player with length and a well rounded game. Not to mention JVG doesn't hate him.

Most definetly re-sign him. At the end of the season when he was getting a lot of minutes, he was able to knock down lots of 3's. He's pretty much a younger Jon Barry.

Frahm couldn't find his shot in two-thirds of the 39 games he played last season.

I agree. Bogans can get about 10 to 13 mins a game in behind Battier and his game (and his defense) is much more well rounded. We need all the depth we can get after all the injuries we had last year. remember we are inly a back strain away from one of our bench guys starting and i would rather start Bogans rather than Frahm.

I like Gansey too, but he's signing with Miami's summer league team. And they're playing in Florida while the Rox are in Vegas. So we don't really have much of a track at signing Gansey if he plays well.

Maybe but it looks like our summer team is already set:

Btw: It seems kind of surprising that Baxter is back with our summer team. You would think that the bobcats would have their own with all their young players.

i would love to have him back next year ... if we dont pick gansey
BUT if we land Gansey, isnt it the same kind of player ??? and we also are working out another shooter today ,Patrick Beilein, who is also on our summer team roster ... btw IF jvg was still interested by frahm, wouldnt he be on our summer league roster too ???

They are "inexpensive" enough to have both. Also, either makes good filler in what precious few trade scenarios the Rockets have left.

why would they need him to play sl? it's not like they haven't to see him play because he's been sitting on the bench.
