Oh before free agency, we STILL have 4 years before that don't we? Pretty early to be beancounting right now isn't it?
Oh I apologize profusely for my mistyping. You must have NEVER made a mistake before. You know very well I was talking about Jordan, unless you really didn't know who he is....
Michael Jordan went #3 in the draft based on his play in college (psst, he won a championship) Rudy Gay went #8. If Uconn went all the way and Rudy Gay pulled off some Carmelo Anthony stuff, then we wouldnt be talking about him. you guys can put a whole billboard up in Montrose and the Rockets would still trade Rudy.
Yeah, Battier is about 1/100th as dirty as Bowen. And Bowen is a little better at guarding 2's, and Battier is a little better at guarding 4's.
I was just making a counterpoint to someone saying Novak scored 41 on Gay. That was a one time event, just like MJ getting cut. So let's just keep quiet and bend over for them to screw, right?
You arent comparing apples to apples. MJ in high school vs Rudy Gay in college getting scored on by some Matt Bullard dude. a proper analogy would be Clyde Drexler scoring XX points on Jordan. Throwing doubts about a high school player is understood (Amare), but a kid who played college against top college teams and not performing is legit reason to have doubt. You dont think if CD, JVG,Tmac,Yao really really really wanted Rudy Gay that he would not be traded?
Just saw this on the net, and couldn't find it posted anywhere else. Ignore it if it has been. A wee bit o' fun....
I know. Did I really have to make an apples to apples comparison for you to understand that Novak scoring 41 on Gay was a one time event? Besides, it not like NOBODY ever burned Bowen, Rodman, Wallace or any other DPOY in the NBA. And where did you get the Matt Bullard comparison? Matt Bullard might be a mediocre NBA player, but he did well in college. Or else why would he be in the NBA?
The last thing the Rockets should have done was trade a possible replacement for T-Mac if his back fails (Gay), a possible legit #3 guy (Gay) and a serviceable backup 4/5 (Swift) and depth for a championship calibre role player (Battier). I love the fact that we got Battier, but at that price tag, and considering the state the Rockets are in, it's basically absurd how bad the Rockets got raped in this deal. I mean this could end up worse than the EG trade.
we're still trading him, but that doesn't mean we should voice our displeasure. it's great to live in a free country.
Jerry West compared this deal to when he traded Vlade for Kobe. I don't know about that happening, but I do feel we got ripped off. If Gay turns out to be as good as Battier I'll think we got ripped off.
Some people also compared drafting yao over jay williams to bowie over jordan. I think battier will help us more then Vlade helped the lakers and Gay is not going to ever be Kobe Bryant. It is safe to say people will disagree. I am in favor of the trade but do think Gay will one day put up much better stats then battier. However, I think battier does all the little things that help teams win which Gay doesnt. I dont see Gay taking charges, diving on the floor or being able to guard a PF. As for Stro being included, I wasnt in favor of dumping him just yet. However, i find it funny so many people called him garbage and said to get rid of him any way we can and are now outraged that he was included in this deal.
Think a little more before you posted this. We are talking about a trade, not simply drafting Yao or Williams. Just like you trade a BMW auto to Ford, then you say my Ford car can do lots of good thing for me. I do not know what is good for this trade, with 80% of people say a terrible trade.
