I think we'll actually be going with our best defensive players in crunch time. The "shooting" lineup will see time in the second quarter when Yao comes back in the game and for stretches late in the 3rd early in the 4th. In fact, if we can get another deadeye shooter like Gansey, then combine that with Novak and Head and we would have a terrific shooting second unit for when Yao checks back in after his first breather, and T-mac checks out for a rest.
It's nice to hear this guy is a gym rat. Those are the kind of players who get better after they reach the NBA. He could rapidly improve after his rookie year. Sounds like he could be a rotation player by season's end. JVG will have NO trouble playing him if he hits shots, especially in crunch time. It just depends what the needs are in a particular game. One of Bullard's main advantages was the fact defenses adjusted to his presence on the floor. If Novak can force the same thing, our crunch time offense down the stretch of close games will be much improved.
Actually, I like Shane at the 4 better than the 2 or 3. He would be quicker, more mobile, better shooter than most 4's.
Shane will stay at the 2 or the 3 because that's where he defends, rebounds and scores better. If we used him at the 4 then that's just stupid he's not a good enough rebounder and low post defender. Guys like Duncan, O'neal, Bosh, and Gaol would burn him.
Don't everybody get excited. Remember Boki and countless other "shooters" that came into the league shooting lights out in their inferior league/college games and practices? Let's see how he adjust to the NBA game and three point line, because if he can't hit that shot he's useless.

I am a little doubtful what he can bring to Rockets. Very disappointed with the team since anyone that JVG doesnot like will be sent away (Jim Jackson, Sto Swift etc). To be frank, I hate JVG, and think that as long as he is the coach, there's little possibility that the team will achieve their goal.
That's true. The kid obviously cannot play PF in the NBA, at least the coming season. But a 6'10", smart player certainly can feed the post well with his height advantage at 3. Oops, SF is Tmac's spot. And Battier's. OK, that will a problem.
He played 26% of the Grizzlies' power foward last year. He's suppose to be an excellent low post defender. Rebounding is an issue, he averaged about 1.4 rebound less than JHow. He blocks shots which is something JHow has never done. He won't start at the four, but he will see spot minutes there every game. Bank on it.

I like his attitude, but how does a guy shoot over 50% 3 pointers and only average 17.5 points. Did he play with 4 black holes?
Gater, he was trying to tell you in a courterous way that you have become the black pit of doom around here. We get it. You don't like the trade. Or the front office. Or the coach. Do you have anything to say about Novak, or are you still on the rag? If your music is as tedious as your recent basketball analysis then you better think about selling insurance, or something. Incidentally, I think Novak will get a nice chance to shine in this system which is pretty good for a 2nd round pick.
Well he can't create his own shot, so he pretty much relies on off-ball movement. And it's not easy to generate a ton of offense strictly coming off screens. At least Redick could handle the ball on the pick and roll, and jack it up behind a screen. Novak's lack of handle and/or quickness probably doesn't allow him to do that. Still like I've said, if he can stay on the floor defensively, then he'll be a huge boon to our offense.
