that has yet to be released?

what do you guys think the probability of us getting something else in return from Memphis is?

i'm sure this has been discussed in other threads, but i'd rather not sift through them for 5 hours.

There should be more trades but none should be related to this one. If there is more to this one, Rox would have told us to spin it to their advantage.

The proverbial snowball in hell. They have already pulled their pants up and are buckling their belt.

I sure hope so but doubt it. I think the trade is already done but cannot be announced till the 12th and all we are getting back is Battier :(

After funneling through the salary junk...

The Grizzlies Should be able to receive $6.8 million in return for Battier, which is well above Swift's $5.4 million salary for 06-07.

Perhaps the miniscule $1.4 million dollar defecit will make Warrick a throw-in? Fat chance though... :(

Isn't that difference covered by Gay's guaranteed contract?

In a sense, we are also dumping Gay's contract in addition to Swift's. :( :( :(

Supposedly, an unsigned rookie is worth $0 (Zero).

I am hoping they included swift to clear room for a multiplayer deal with another team or teams...

    * Hopefully included JHO ... wishful thinking?

Where is the room? Battier has similar salary but with longer contract.

lets just accept this deal and move on.

    what happened, happened.

we have a chance to add a player with the MLE and another with the TE. we will be a GOOD team.

Damn. You are right. This incarnation of the Rockets has had us set on mediocrity for far too long.

Gay's contract count as $0 in this deal thanks to the new CBA. Technically, Gay was a "throw-in" because on paper it will read Swift for Battier. Every unsigned draft pick (whether the first overall or the #64th) counts as $0.

This is it - according to reports and the hints we have received from Jerry West - it was basically a 2 for 1 deal.

So there it is - it works according to the CBA.

I think CD probably secured an agreement with West to work with him on a trade with the TE, either BJax in a S&T or Damon Stoudamire possibly. Bobby Jackson is an excellent fit here, especially if we cannotwork a S&T for Mike James. His best years were in the Sacramento offense where he could get just red hot and knock down all sorts of crazy shots. He's a little long in the tooth at 33 but I think he would be a great rotation player backing up at the point guard spot for us with his abiliy to play off big scorers. He's another great character guy that opted out because he is looking to WIN.

In fact, his attitude is a plus over Mike James. I'm sure he would accept the role as 6th man coming off the bench without any problem.

There should be more to this; I hope so.

At least see if they drafted Alexander Johnson as a steal for us in the 2nd round. We did bring him in for two workouts. So I can assume we like him.

I don't care much about giving up two r****ds for Battier, but it hurt our depth. We should at least get back a 15 mpg guy, you know?

Well, I really thought they were picking up Alexander Johnson for us but the way Jerry West made it sound in that interview that Clutch posted, it sure sounded like he was high on that kid and was going to keep him.

Maybe we can get Brian Cardinal and Big Jake for Juward and Head????

    :D :D

I'd feel better if the Rockets drafted Alexander Johnson at #44 and let the Grizzlies "steal" Eliyahu at #45. Johnson fills Rockets needs much better than Eliyahu. AJ would give us a great inside rebounder and banger who could guard the taller PF's. He wouldn't be as easy to shoot over as Hayes.
