I used to think that Richard Justice was an genuine ass, but I'm becoming more and more convinced that he's just a well-meaning r****ded man.

I can't stand Richard Justice. Fundamentally does not seem to understand baseball or baskeball. Terrible sportswriter.

yeah, i really hope Shane comes through and helps this community! that's what we need! forget depth, athleticism, and youth.... we need "good guys" who will serve the community! Justice really showed all us nay-sayers a thing or two! how many community service hours do we need to accumulate to win the championship this year?

    justice is a hack.

    holy crap, no kidding.

i wish justice would make it more about HIM. i don't get to read enough about him...how he forms his opinions..who does or doesn't agree with him...the trials of a sportswriter. he really should include more of that.

I think that we should all wait and see about this trade. I believe it is going to be better for us in the long run. I, for one, am not oging to miss Stro. If we are winning next year, we will all forget about how pissy we are all feeling now and enjoy the show.
Do you really think that they would have made this deal blindly? They knew what the reaction was going to be, just like the Texan front office knew what would happen if we didn't get Bush or Young.
It took balls to make this trade, and They did what they felt what was best.
I, for one, support it, now that I have gotten over my initial shock.

i cant believe the chronicle cant find better columnist than this clown...i mean seriously, first take a good hard look at this trade richard...no one is disagreeing with you that shane battier isnt a good fit for this team, its just the rockets just gave stromile and gay for battier...

think this out logically and rewrite your column and blog...the quality of that eighth pick AND swift was not worth JUST shane battier...we could have squeezed maybe mike miller into that deal and give them juwan instead or get a first round pick from either this draft or a future on...

was i shocked to find out about this trade, yes but the thought of battier with another player/pick was something i could warm up to, but we got shafted with just battier without a pick or another player involved...

its really sad that you spend all your free time going through emails to find someone that actually agrees with you and you actual post it...a little bigheaded dont you think? if you could actual think logically about this trade, you'd see the rockets need more in return...so next time you sit down at your laptop, please think before you type

I think he's trying to be humorous. I disagree with him, but it doesn't make me all mad that he thinks it was a good trade.

It's pretty disappointing to have to go all the way to Memphis to find someone who gets it

This is God's way of telling Justice to move to Memphis.

I agree completely, I am surprised by how angry people become without really letting the off season take it's course. I think Battier gives us a better chance of winning than gay/swift at least for the next 1-2 seasons.

I mean, winning a championship is the goal right?

I want hustle guys who give 110% on every play, have character, and know how to win.

Swift is a terrible fit for this team and Gay is too young, we cannot let our window of opportunity pass by without making a real push at another title. Once TMAC is retired, we can still rebuild around Yao.

Yao allows us to be able to rebuild after TMAC without becoming a bad team, plus, with TMAC/Yao/Battier and a few key role players we at least have a shot at winning a championship.

That is more than most franchises can say.

Most people who know would tell you Justice is a clown. It's not knowledge or journalism skills that he's after -- he's more about trying to make each of his articles or comments bold and about "him", sort of trying to be the Peter Vecsey/Skip Bayless of Houston. He's the kind of *journalist* that dreams of being called a slur of some sort by Ozzie Guillen so that every one has to mention his name and he gets to write articles about it from here to eternity.

Honestly, this is less about the trade and more about Justice just being a turd.

exactly. very little to do about the trade. it's about justice's approach to nearly every subject.

I don't normally read the chronicle, but he does sound like a jerk.

I agree with him about the trade, but he seems to be making it a personal issue...I'm right, you're wrong kind of thing.

I must admit that is quite unprofessional.

seriously, he's all the time like that. all the time. about every sports topic under the sun.

but the part that makes it comical is he also has a reputation as a flip-flopper. so he'll take a strong stand in an article...make it personal...then flip-flop 5 months later. lately, he's even made note of himself doing this within his own columns. it's a train wreck.
