[CHRON] Van Gundy says he would have played 19-year-old Gay

Rockets fans are still waiting for the 'decision-maker' man enough to come out and tell us loud and clear that "I am responsible for the draft decisions on June 28 2006".

 

He said he agreed with their decision. I don't see the contradiction.

 

Be a man, if you did this and just let us know.

Maybe this deal will turn out to be the right choice for Rockets.

My initial reaction was that it was Morey (advanced statistical stuff show Battier to be a much better player than the conventional numbers might indicate). But I think it was probably a joint-decision, with the coach's preferred style in mind. No surprise that JVG would also endorse it.

 

The only way to win championship is to fire gundys. Miami fired Stan and they won.

 

it probably is damage control, but it makes this trade even more crazy. awesome JVG said he was going to play a young rook...so we trade him? stellar.

 

On another note, its funny they said nothing about Stro

JVG just said that he was going to play the best players, while rookies are easily not among the best players. He just made a pretty good excuse for not playing rooks...

 

He is trying to defend himself and show that he isn't as stubborn as he seems.
He wouldn't have minded having Gay per his statement but he was all for giving him up for Battier.

 

They didn't mention Stro at all in the McGrady "I like Battier" Chronicle article either. Massive damage control by omitting the disappearance of one MLE player on our roster.

If West later on traded Swift for a pick or player we'd feel more stupid.

 

Dear lord. That might put me over the edge.
Aside from the obvious implications of the trade Swift "10/5" + Gay "Potential Star" for Battier "10/5", we did get rid of one our few tradable assets.

 

head got a lot of PT and he would have got more if he didn't suck in some of the key situations he was put in.

jvg will play players that he thinks can play, like any coach. I want to take the chance on greatness. if gay turns out to be EG again then I can live with that. I can't live with this crap.

head got PT because everyone else better than him is in street clothes. He is competing with D-leage players for time on the court, and he is capable of that.

I agree with you on the rest. If we get the second coming of EG, so be it. at least we didn't waste anything like we did for EG. But even if Gay only lives up to half of his potential, we would have become serious contenders. That might take a few years, but it is WAY better than going nowhere.

I hope your just tryin to be funny cuz either Vince Carter is better than a prime Battier. The worse thing about it is that we also lost Stro. Id be happy with the trade if the other rumor was true about it bein Juwan.
