Hey Pops, Do you have Excel at home or at work? I can make a spreadsheet that does all the calculations you're talking about (I think) if you want. All you'll have to do is enter the team names, the game result (a "W" or "L"), and of course everybody's pick. It'll do the win/loss, cumulative, blah, blah, blah, ad nauseum... Let me know if you want something like that... I haven't messed with Excel in a while. =) ------------------ Rocket fuel pumps through these veins...
Ahh, something on this board I can speak with some confidence about! I've got experience with database programming, free webspace I'm not using, and an opportunity to write some code to automatically update a web page based on changes in a database. I'm working on it right now, all things being equal, it might even be working by the time the Rocks post a W against the Clippers.
Thanks guys. Actually I use Excel and Access and a whole gamit of spreadsheet and d-base stuff at work. But I work on this at home, usually off my personal laptop which doesn't have either of the above. Air Francis started format for me and I just copied it. more importantly, my daughter Elizabeth, aged 11, helps me post it. I had a bit of a setback lately but now back on stream. But I would appreciate both of you emailing me and we can chat about some stat projects that I am interested in starting for the rockets. Thanks,guys. pop
Memo to Elizabeth: Nice, nice work. We thank and salute you. The only thing is, the Chucky Brown Fan Club is vaguely upset by 11 year olds with more technical expertise and common sense than our board of directors. Stop reading things and getting good at computers while we are watching "Best Of The Teletubbies, Volume 6: Po Finds Some Soup." We will not be able to compete with you by age 12, forget about your 20s and 30s. By the way, Popeye, if you let her keep up on this pace she will have to be Mensa'd out of Clutch City - i think we have an IQ cutoff of 105 (same as the CBFC, incidentally). I know this is a late hour to be up and posting on an NBA Fan BBS, even if it is the best and most well-known site on the sports internet. I was restless and ended up reading your post, CBFC. My little pumpkin (and she's the oldest girl so she makes a big noise when I call her cute names like that) says: Is that really Charlie Brown's Fan Club??? Took me about ten minutes to make her understand who Chuckie is. Then she says: "....yeah, but ... like ... he's not even a Rocket. Oooooh "grodddy-to-the-max". "Sooooo coooool. NOT," While I don't agree with her assumption that all non-Rocket players, are merely bait for the fishes and belong on the otrher end of the food chain, but the next time she has a question, you have to explain this stuff to her CBrown Fan Club President. Not me.
