Actually, I find this most believable and have been trying not to get mad at JVG. He said all along he has virtually nothing to do with the draft process. While some say otherwise, he clearly is not oppossed to playing rookies, even undrafted rookies (Hayes), if they produce better than others. His teams do seem to inevitably play a boring style, and you ahve to blame him for that, but I don't think he views himself as a talent evaluator, just a coach.
It's a Daryl Morey trade. ... but seriously... What could Gay have done to be hated by the Rockets management?
I bet "scape goat Gundy" gets alot of that. Stupid moves that he gets conveniently blamed for because of the stereotype that surrounds him. Im sure this is not the first time this has happened.
The only comments Cd has had the balls to make today was that JVG was consulted and was in the war room. I guess he wanted to make sure one of the wheels on the bus hit JVG because the bus is driving forwards and backwards across him.
All he has to do if just to back out of the trade...lol i can't imagine what kind of reaction Jerry West will have if We actually back out of it... yea i know.. it won't happen...
It's gotta be b/c Battier "stats" were too good to pass up. I remember a 3way deal involving Seattle, Denver, and Boston when Morey was with Boston. Boston came out with JUNK in the deal. I think Denver got Reggie Evans and Seattle got Earl Watson. That's the first thing I thought about when I first heard Rox deemed Morey as future GM. more dumb trades look to follow under Morey. Other than that, the only other reason Rocket Management didn't want to keep Gay is because Les must have been worried about his jersey sales haha
It is not a single person's decision. As much as I dislike JVG, I don't think he has such power to make the decision himself. However, I have no doubt he was part of the group making such stupid trade. It definitely has his imprint all over.
Horse-poop. That's someone trying to spin it. Technically JVG didn't make the "decision" and wasn't "consulted" either. However CD gave it away in yesterday's article... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/justice/4011218.html
This is definitely JVG. I just heard an interview with CD and he said it was a group decision and JVG was in the room and he explicitly said that JVG was very VOCAL about the trade.
I love how no one in the Rox brass is taking accountability for this debacle. Someone needs to stand up so I know who to direct my hatred towards.
That is just a lie. Fran is not aware of the truth. I think I'd believe CD first before a mere journalist like Fran. CD said last night that JVG was aware of it - that they run everything by him. If he wanted Gay, we would have kept him. QED. JVG must have given his blessing. Oh btw, Cd is useless.
The not keeping Gay decision should have been made before the draft and had Jeff's input. You know the Rockets' 5 top list from the Memphis' side of the story?
