    check this out:

Shane Battery is signed through at least 2010-2011 and is signed with the following #'s:

    06-07 - $5.4 mill
    07-08 - $5.9 mill
    08-09 - $6.375 mill
    09-10 - $6.865 mill
    10-11 - $7.354 mill

Our pay roll next year with signed players (not draft picks) will be about $55,155,000. We might get some relief from Sura's $3.8 mill. contract. If he can't play. Stro and Battier will cancel each other out. This figure does not include Spanoulis, if he comes to play.

Last years pay roll was about $65,200,000. That includes all of the rent-a-D-leaguers we had.

We have 11 (including C. Ward) players under contract right now, approximate salary #'s, and last year's MPG.

    2006-07 Sallaries & MPG
    - T-mac - $17 mill. - 37 min/game
    - Yao - $12 mill - 35 min/game
    - JHO - $6.4 mill - 31 min/game
    - Stro/Battier - $5.4 mill - 20 min/game
    - Rafer - $4.2 mill - 38 min/game
    - Sura - $3.8 mill - ????
    - Mutombo - $2.2 mill 14.9 min/game
    - Head - $1.05 mill 28.9 min/game
    - Hayes - $ .664 mill 13.5 min/game
    - Bowen - $1 mill 9.6 min/game
    - Ward - $1.5 mill 0 min/game
    ADD IN
    ------------------------------------------
    - Novak (2nd rounder) - $ .75 mill (best guess)
    - Spanoulis - ?
    -------------------------------------------
    Depth Chart
1 - Rafer, Head, Spanoulis, (I don't want to count Sura, yet)
    2- T-mac, Head,
    3- Batery/T-mac, Bowen, Novak
    4- JoH, Hayes, Novak
    5- Yao, Mutombo

    ----------------------------------------------

We have nearly 15-17 min./game that need to be filled by the people who are not on our roster any more. (Bogans, Wesley, Lampe, Frahm, Lucas III, Brunson, etc.) I am not saying that some of these guys won't be back.
I am guessing Novak will give us 2-5 minuets a game. I would hope that Yao and T-Mac's minuets will increase and Bowen/Mutombo's will decrease.

    -----------------------------------------------

Per DDokta we have our MLE left and a Trade Exception left. Ok, so now we have all the info. What do we need, now?

We need a back up PG if Spanoulis and Sura aren't here. We need a back up SG. We need another Center (Mutombo can give us 30 min. a week). We need another PF (are you guys sold on Hayes being our primary guy off the bench?).

What is out there, for us? Discuss.... ;)

Yes. It's a valid and important topic for our offseason. Not everyone's about to jump off a cliff like you. Calm down. :)

    SG
    Greg Buckner
    DerMarr Johnson
    Bonzi Wells
    Richie Frahm (re-sign)

    PF
    Chris Wilcox
    Vladimir Radmonovich
    Al Harrington

those would be my targets...i know, not exactly the finest cuts of meat youve seen, but lets see what we can do. if it were my choices, id say al harrington and greg buckner. buck could come off the bench, youd have a starting line-up of:

    Alston
    Battier
    McGrady
    Harrington
    Yao

    bench:

    Head
    Buckner
    Bogans
    Howard
    Deke

i have no concept of money so i havent a clue about cap implications etc

tempting as long as james is coming off the bench. that would give a bench of:

    head
    james
    novak
    hayes
    deke/lampe

Want champs and low salary payment?

O.K. trade out T-mac for either M.Redd or G.Arenas with JH and SS for J.Magloire and J.Jeffries.

    gay stay, goes nowhere~~

I bet he would be in the top 7.

My guess is that we have about $8-9 mill to spend, of course using our MLE.

I think that Harrington is going to want to get paid, so he ain't comming here.

I am intriged maybe with a Nene or a Pryzibila. With the guys we are playing aginst I would say Nene first. I still think Bonzi would be a good third scoring/6th man option. I can't see Mike James comming here and not being the starting point gaurd. Not that's a bad thing, I think that Alston would be a better fit comming off the bench.

    How does this look?

    PG - James, Alston, Spanoulis
    SG - T-mac, Bonzi, Bogans
SF - Battier, Novack (what ever the guys name is), Bowen
    PF - JoHo, Hayes
    C - Yao, Mutombo, Nene

Could you guys live with Bonzi Wells, Mike James, and Nene? Cane we get all three for $9-10mill? What do you think?

No assets... no exceptions... we can't just go and sign people in the FA right?
Then the best I can come up with is this:

PG: Mike James (MLE)/ Rafer Alston/ John Lucas III
SG: Tracy Mcgrady/ Luther Head/ Mike Gansey
SF: Shane Battier/ Steve Novak/ Ryan Bowen
PF: Reggie Evans (free agency anyone?) / Juwan Howard/ Chuck Hayes
C: Yao Ming/ Dekembe Mutombo/ ???!?! filler... really dunno what to put, but we got to find somebody for backup C...
