What a horrific night. I heard the Rockets picked Gay at #8 on the radio, and I thought tonight had the potential to be the best night of my life. Then I went on a date with my girlfriend which was fantastic. However, when I came back, I read the Clutchfans.net title "Not Gay Friendly". I thought I was in a bad dream and was going to die. I know the trade has been announced, and it's pretty hard for it to be cancelled since Battier is probably told he's going to get traded and CD and Jerry West have shaken hands on it. I am still wondering what we can do as fans to get this terrorist attack trade cancelled. What do you suggest? Can someone who live in Houston organize a fan protest in front of the TC? Can someone organize a reasonable petition (not the crappy one that's in another thread already). Can we organize a boycott of Rockets tickets? Can we sue the Rockets for ... someone's heard problem/depression/anything? Can we fundraise for a TV/news paper ad to cancel this trade? Can we ask the Texas Congressmen to give Les Alexandars call? Can we boycott Les' business (if he has one besides the Rockets)? Please add you ideas. Someone, please take actions if you feel any of these ideas is applicable. I usually don't start threads like this, and most of these ideas are probably pretty dumb. However, the trade is too hard to take for me as a fan. Let's talk and see what we can do. The Rockets fired Calvin Murphy, despite the fact we started a petition here. Let's get a stronger one this time or change our approach. The Rockets also allowed Clutch to be a media reporter in their training camp, because of fan pressure from Clutchfans. Let's do it again.
I'd chip in to take an ad out in the Chron. It sounds nuts but if we all threw in some money, maybe we could afford a 1/4 page. More than anything the publicity it drew would be worth more than the actual ad.
This trade is not official yet, so it could possibly still break down can't it? I mean, it seems Swift wasn't included in the original talks, and they negotiated him into the deal for salaries. Now if they disagree on whether to trade Swift, or Howard, or recieving cash, or future picks... The trade just completely unravels doesnt it?
This trade is not officially done becuae of Battier being ByC player but its said to be in principal. I think Rockets can still back out of the deal, but Jerry will call him out.
I think our best bet would be to get Carol Dawson declared incompetent. I'm sure we can get a judge to look at this trade and decide that theres noway Dawson was in his right mind.
none of the trades that went down last night are "official" because of league rules. but we all know that it is "official". Sorry guys, we just all have to live with this sucky trade. in 2001 Battier was the 6th overall pick. I guess he has played crappy enough to drop 2 spots.
Crazy! You must be drunk. I suggest stern change Rocket's boss to someone like Cuban, then money is not the problem. Many excellent players will come to Rockets.
Actually, as for the officiality of trades on draft night, I am still curious as to why many others were made official while ours wasn't. Example: http://www.nba.com/transactions/current_month_transactions.html ----------------------------- Wed, June 28 Houston acquires the Draft rights to Lior Eliyahu from Orlando for cash considerations. ----------------------------- That's all it says for the Rockets, which is also something new to me. Lior Eliyahu? From Israel? Anyways, some of the other trades we heard about ARE on NBA.com Transactions page such as: ----------------------------- Boston acquires Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and a second-round pick in 2008 from Portland for Dan Dickau, Raef LaFrentz and the Draft rights to Randy Foye. Portland acquires the Draft rights to LaMarcus Aldridge and a future second-round pick from Chicago for Viktor Khryapa and the Draft rights to Tyrus Thomas. ----------------------------- So the confusion continues, I don't think the Rockets trade is official as of yet, but it will probably end up being done.
check this out guys http://www.petitiononline.com/8THPICK/petition.html if you want something else, create a new one.. let me know and I'l' turn this one off..
On a side note, I would've been so much happier had we just picked Brewer, Carney or even (at this point) Reddick. The problem with Brewer is apparently his elbow, so what do the Rockets do? They trade for Eliahu, who has the exact same elbow problem as Brewer. Brilliant.
this would be so bad arse. can you imagine rome's take on this. it would be "phenomenal". let's get it started!
