Perpetual basketball.... look at a team like Dallas with young players and vetrans contributing.

They are always developing talent in order to be able to replace players like Nash and Finley when they leave and still make the finals.

Instead Houston is building a roster devoid of any youth or athleticism designed to play for the next 2-3 years.

Even if Gay wasn't a perfect fit or couldn't play with Tmac (which if Battier could play side by side with tmac then why not Gay) he could be an effective player off the bench for a couple of years.

If we decided to trade out there had to have been a better trade than the 2 for 1. We were already exposed as a 2 man roster and a 2 for 1 deal that nets no cap freedom, no more athleticism, and an older more expensive player signed to a longer contract doesn't make sense.

All I have to say is CD has always been a joke of a GM when it comes to drafting. This is just further proof.

    GREAT third scoring option.

I would Fire CD and Morey right now if I was the Owner of Rockets. They are idiots which made the worst decision for Rox.

Worse draft news I've ever heard from the Rockets, I'm sadden to be a Rockets fan right now(and I don't think I have ever said that in my 20yrs plus as a fan). We just lost our future starting front court for a backup SF (who averages only 6ppg in the playoffs). I feel like we sacrified possibly multiple future championships for the possibility of one this season.

I think management was worried Gay may turn out to be like Griffin but all the news I've read is that Gay has been one of the nicest and easily coachable players. Battier is good all around but he's not your 3rd score we desparately need. He may have had one good game (such as when he blocked Yao a couple of times) but he's not bruce bowen night in and night out on D. I'm terrifed this Battier facination will turn out to be like the Doug Christie situation in Orlando.

If their only reason for swinging this trade is because Gay will take time to develop (and that is the ONLY fathomable reason), then this team doesn't deserve to select picks in drafts, ever again. The lack of patience and VISION for incoming rookies in this organization is DISGUSTING. This front office does not dare to be great. Perhaps they are simply incompetent, and do not know how to develop new players - I believe it. Doesn't that make you unqualified for your job? Step down and let someone else handle it.

The team's lack of vision and common sense are baffling.
