Hey guys please sign the petition to not trade rudy gay: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=114476 Once 10,000 replies are made I will send to Rockets Organization and hope for the best. DO IT CLUTCHFANS!
It's difficult to add anything knew or fresh to this thread, but I wonder how the Rocket's players themselves are reacting. Are they in as much shock as we are? If this bizarre trade doesn't work, I can see Yao and McGrady wanting out of here rapido! It seems our expectations were FAR too high, but I would've just been happy with Reddick or Brewer at the 8. If we didn't want Gay, and we couldn't get more than Battier, why bother to draft Gay?
Yea, that's the one I was referring to in my most recent post... I'd say that they are 60/40 in favor of the deal. There were plenty of posts saying that they didn't like that they were giving up Battier and that they questioned Gay's motivation to get better. Anyone have any thoughts on this becoming a 3-way deal with Stro going to the 3rd team?
My take on this move... Heres what i think about this trade. its a BIG gamble, and although i loved Rudy Gay's abilities and skills as a basketball player, i watched him the entire tournament last year and although extremely skilled, he was always quiet, seemed almost disinterested, and was actually caught by a couple of tv cameras on two occasions yawning. i think he will either be a 10 ppg player or eventually become a 25 ppg player ONLY IF he gets his act straight on the court, gains a whole new level of focus, and becomes a much more aggressive and assertive player. in Battier we get a player who automatically takes the pressure off of Tmac defensively, gives a great level of effort and consistency night in and night out, and hits the three ball with consistency (which we all know is huge in our two star system). there are also reports that its Jho involved in the trade and not Stro, which i would actually be ecstatic about if true. another thing i heard is we may be recieving the rights to Kyle Lowry, who i think could be a game changing point guard off the bench especially if he continues developing his jump shot. all im saying is you guys should calm down, let the details of the trade come, and wait to see the results of the trade, and i honestly have a great feeling about this trade and the subsequent moves that could be made by this team. calm down folks.
Come on guys, yall think we are the only ones takeing this hard. look at what i found on a grizz forum!!! here are some quotes!! "stupid stupid stupid." "West better not screw this up." "I have a very, very sickening feeling that the backlash in Houston is going to sink this deal." LMAO!!! "Shane for Gay is the worst mistake West has made yet..." "Jerry West making the boneheadiest move of his tenure with grizzlies so far" "Shane would be the glue that Houston needs to return them to the playoffs alongside TMac and Yao" "Rudy Gay is a new version of Stromile Swift. Talent with no passion. This is the worst move Mr. West has ever made." "I'm speechless, but I managed to post my best Battier Photos. Gotta go check Orbitz for flights to Houston..." "This is so gay...." "West better not screw this up." "Hah! I love it! Nobody likes this trade! Over at Clutchfans, we're all furious at the Rockets FO for giving up a potential star in Gay for a role player who's 8 years older. JVG's been saying all offseason that we need depth and athleticism, and yet he pressures Carrol Dawson into a move that makes the team less athletic and shortens the bench. Oh well, at least I'm encouraged to hear some of the things you guys have said about Battier." "T-Mac, Yao, huge party city....vs. Pau Gasol, a coach that people hate and a small rundown(by NBA standards) town" "JERRY BLOWS IT AGAIN" "WEST ON HIS KNEES: blows it again" "WEST BLOWS FANS WITH GAY MOVE" Thats all i got for now, will try to add more later. but from reading there post they all realy realy love shane. kinda like how we fell about hakeem here!!
I'm pretty sure the team has something like 2 weeks to trade a player they recieved in a previous trade. After that, they must wait a few months. Something like that.
Here's what I think... I think this post belongs in the "Trade: Rudy Gay AND Stro Swift for Shane Battier?" thread. Also, please don't tell me to calm down... that's really not helping.
dude... everyone needs to stop with this gay petition... first of all, you can get 461573213OmFGbbq287321 names on there and its not going to change a damn thing. second of all, you guys who are all whining and complaining and talking about the gay petition are gonna be the first ones in here saying how great a move the battier trade is come may when we're the 4th seed in the west. im gonna go through this whole thread and write down every name that b****ed and moaned about this trade and then see those same names praising the rockets during the playoffs.
Bottom Line To summarize what the hell just happened : Rudy Gay was a STEAL at #8. ABSOLUTE STEAL. And then we got ROBBED. It's like winning a lottery ticket(or a car), something very unexpected, and then someone saying "JUST KIDDING HEHE". What it is is like a @#%#$! UP joke
You know what.....what if Stro doenst want to go back to Memphis and pulls a Zo' and refuses to report. He had one bad stint there already. And its virtually the same situation he's re-entering again. Theres a good chance he's not happy with this deal. And he could possible do something about it.... And if so....this deal would be in the toilet!
Hey man thanks for summing it up. I didn't really fully appreciate the a$$ raping until you just pointed it out to me.
yeah u can tell they are gonna realy miss him on da grizz forum! also u can see that in my post wit tha quotes!
I honestly don't know what to say about this pick. I have a feeling the rockets just had a sour taste in their mouths after getting Eddie Griffin. If Gay really did fall that far down in the draft then I have a feeling that alot of teams saw something in him that scared them. Heck Minny had a chance to pick him up as well but went with Brandon Roy instead. I don't know if Shane Battier was the proper choice to pick up but I have a feeling the Rockets felt there was something about Gay's attitude that wasn't just there. For all we know Shane Battier might not be in our plans either and could be part of a trade later. After this trade when is the soonest we can trade the guy.
LOL YAWNING?! I dunno about that, but if he did thats hilarious. I'll make a nice donantion to the tip jar if someone can post a clip of this... But besides that, it would be great news if we can unload Juwon but my understanding is we'd still be close to or over the cap anyway right? Which means that we'd only have MLE money to get any more talent on this team. Stro was inconsistent last year to say the least and I would not trust him as a starter yet. Juwon atleast could still hit the midrange jumper and was probably the most consistent player on the team last year. I dunno how the salaries would match up but if they could throw in Damon Stoudamire maybe I'd be a little less pissed about this deal. Also, I'd like to know on what sources said we could give away Juwon or get Kyle Lowry. I thought this deal was finalized...how could they be throwing people in if it wasnt...
honestly what happens if T-mac came out and told management not to trade swift or gay? wasnt he the old who wanted swift all along? granted swift hardly wowed anyone but if i recall right swift was very efficient in the games that both t-mac and yao played (all 30 or so of them) what would happen then if both yao and t-mac said keep the pick. i want to see the team draft talent and develop them. thats why i still follow players like horry, cassell, mobley, kenny thomas, francis cuz they were houston guys picked (not so necessarily with francis) by houston maybe gay doesnt step in and avg 10/5 like battier does, but thats why you use the MLE to bring in a vet to do that.
