I seriously cannot believe we traded a top pick and basically a starter for Shane Battier and we didn't even get their 24th pick. Memphis could end up getting Gay, Swift and Marcus Williams in this draft for nothing more than Battier. What the hell???
IS THIS A POSSIBILITY? They trade Swift and Gay away so they can free up money for Mike James? Swift + Gay = Swift's salary + MLE + Mike James + Shane Battier
The only thing I keep telling myself is that there has to be a reason they're doing this. If something doesn't come about during the offseason to where this makes sense, I'm going to be extremely pissed.
This doesn't make any sense. You can ask every single basketball expert and he would say this trade is nonsense. There has to be more parts to this trade. This is exactly why Stern is postponing the announcment of the trade. Either we are getting D. Stoudamire, Pau Gasol, or Mike Miller for one of our players, or Carol Dawson has lost his mind and needs to go to a hospital.
Why don't we file suit? A good lawyer should be able to prove that CD has gone senile and is not mentally competent, and therefore has no legal standing to sign a contract. Trade rescinded.

Don't forget that Battier still has a $6 mil/year contract so basically Swift coming off our books don't mean anything if it brings back more salary

Don't you think we deserve something else though in return for giving up #8 and Swift for Battier and 24th? If someone else is thrown in then I think it is worth it too. I kind of like it but it depends on who else we get. The 24th is definitley involved but maybe they will give us Hakim Warick or Stoudamire or something. We are going to get flamed.
If I had a dollar for every time we rationalized a head-scratching Les Alexander deal by saying he'd use the cap room freed up by the deal -- and he never used it -- I'd be as rich as Les Alexander.
I kind of understand why the rockets are doing this Gay has a history of not being assertive we have stromile ton of talent but can not convert it to anything positive on the basketball court. JVG emphasised this alot on his interview. Every Team need a defensive stopper to win, Battier fill that gap. Especially we need someone to guard Dirk, TMAC and Battier can take turn. I like the trade the only thing I don't like we have to give up swift instead of Howard.
