I don't see how this is a bad thing for the Rockets. We are going to get a stud at #8 anyway, and now Portland might be more likely to trade with us, assuming we are in love with someone who will go earlier than the 8th pick.

A Portland/ Toronto is now a real possiblity, and Foye will still most likely go before #8. I think we end up with either Thomas, Gay, or Roy.

I think it’s Ty Thomas that Portland is after at #7. They were the worst rebounding team in the league and a very poor defensive team last season. Nate McMillan is a defensive-minded coach. Thomas is the best rebounder/defender in the draft.

    #1 Toronto – Bargnani
    #2 Chicago – Aldridge
#3 Charlotte – Gay or Roy
    #4 Portland – Morrison
    #5 Atlanta – Sheldon Williams
    #6 Minnesota – Foye
    #7 Portland – Ty Thomas
    #8 Houston Gay or Roy

I'm telling you 2010 guys when Telfair, Green, Perkins and the other kid that was going to Arkansas(big man) they are going to be good. Too bad Pierce will be like 34 then...

If I was a Boston fan, I'd buy cheap seats for the next 4 years and then move back into good seats...

They are just telling their fans that they are waiting til then.

I'm not too excited on Gay but I would have liked Roy..

Quite honestly, I've been leaning to Carney for a while. Definitely think he'll be there and is worth the risk... One thing we don't have much of is athleticism and he would definitely bring that plus he can hit the J.

i dont know if this is a desperation rumour, but considering the team involved i dont dismiss it...chad ford is hearing/reporting (not sure, insider crap) a rumour (?) that twolves may trade garnett to the bulls for their two picks (and id imagine a lifetime supply of chicago-style pizza). normally id dismiss this, but considering what Ainge just pulled and that McHale is of the same school, i have to at least think theres a kernel of truth there

I dunno if would hurt the Rocket's ultimate plan. This trade has been seriously rumored for a few days.

I think the Rocket's brass probably not only knew this was coming, but planned in accordance so they get who they want. They may have not let on, and may have blown a major smoke screen from what they REALLY want to do, but I think they probably have a good idea of what they are doing by now.

The only way anyone of value falls to us, without anymore trades happening ahead of us, is if the T-Wolves select Randy Foye at 6, it's pretty simple...

That would leave us with either Gay or Roy or Brewer or Carney in one scenario, and Aldridge or Thomas or Brewer or Carney in a 2nd.

That's what you should be rooting for, if in fact you don't want Foye yourselves...

    1) A. Bargnani - Raptors
    2) T. Thomas - Bulls (Scott Skiles type player)
    3) R. Gay - Bobcats
    4) A. Morrison - Blazers
    5) S. Williams - Hawks
    6) R. Foye - T-wolves
    7) B. Roy - Blazers
    8) L. Aldridge - Rockets

Blazers get two guys from the Pacific NW to start to rebuild around:
    Morrison
    Randolph
    Joel P.
    Roy
    Blake

Of course if the Blazers promised LA that they'd take him at 4 if he's available, that kinda blows my mock to pieces :)
Rockets hope Aldridge is not EG-redoux!

Interesting. If the #4 and 7 goes to Toronto for the #1 then that changes things a bit.

I could see Toronto going Aldridge/Bargnani and Roy with #4 and 7. Or possibly even Aldridge AND Bargnani. Which would mean that they could package Villanueva in a deal for a PG or SG. Interesting.

My gut right now says that the guy most likely to fall to us is Thomas. And Roy will probably get snapped up right before us at 7.

No, if this was Isiah he would have gotten Zach Randolph and traded away Al Jefferson

If Toronto comes in to play with Portland. I can see the Raptors using the the #4 on Bargnani and #7 on Foye.

    Bos-Port. trade helps the Rox!

With this trade between Boston and Portland, and the assurance from Portland to Aldridge that he'll be their 4th pick, should give Atlanta assurance to make the deal with Houston.

If everything goes to plan. The draft should go as follows

    Toronto- Bargnani
    Bulls - Thomas
    Bobcats - Morrison
    Portland - Aldridge
Atlanta - Roy or Gay ( who ever Houston wants)
    T-Wolves - who ever Atlanta doesn't take
Portland - Roye, Brewer, or whomever
    Rockets - Williams

to be honest with them picking Aldridge first the Rox can choose who they want.

Actually it may help us. The danger for Atlanta was that Boston might have selected Williams right ahead of the Rockets pick. I don't think the TWolves want Williams and if portland gets Aldridge at 4, then it's doubtful that they also pick Williams at 7.That would seem to make Atlanta more likely to do the rumored trade with Houston,

When did the Blazers assure Aldridge he'd be picked at #4?

this was a bigger trade than we all thought -

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/5738468

Celtics get Telfair, Ratliff for No. 7 pick, Raef

    Jeff Goodman / FOXSports.com

Danny Ainge didn't have to wait on this draft-day trade.

According to sources, the Celtics' boss acquired point guard Sebastian Telfair and big man Theo Ratliff from the Trail Blazers in exchange for the No. 7 pick in tonight's NBA draft, center Raef LaFrentz and guard Dan Dickau.
Not only did Boston get the point guard it has been seeking, but Ainge also rid himself of LaFrentz's mega-contract and also got Ratliff who should give the Celtics a much-needed defensive presence in the middle.

The Celtics are also still discussing the possibility of acquiring Allen Iverson, according to sources close to the situation.

I agree we still end up with a stud at 8(I hope at least) but it sure would have been nice for a team that believes it is a playoff contender to get a stud who actually fills several needs at once. Roy is just that for the Rockets. If the Roy isn't there at the 8th pick(Morrison certainly won't be), then the Rockets have to pick the most talented player left on the board. It might be Thomas or Aldridge, or (more likely) Foye...

Just don't pick Gay - leave that project to another team...we already have enough players with awesome physical talent and measurments who tends to dissapear in games anyway...
