Some of you jokers have completely lost your hats. Foye is a total baller. What's more, he's the kind of guy whose game is tailor made for today's NBA.

Next to BRoy, I think he'd be an absolute gem especially for the Rockets. The guy can shoot, drive, finish, and dish. It's cool if you have your biases on certain players, but definitely don't hate on dudes if you really haven't watched them play. Foye's legit.

He shot .411 in college. That's poor shooting in the NBA.

Concerning Randy Foye, this from here, gives me some paus:

    4. Randy Foye, Villanova: Foye seems to be a hot commodity, but he doesn’t rank very highly here. There’s good and bad with Foye. The good is he’s a hard-nosed player who likes to score and isn’t afraid to take on the load of scoring points. The bad is there just isn’t anything he does well enough that I would consider him a good prospect. As a PG, he’s never averaged more than 3.6 APG in four seasons and his best A/TO was 1.41. When he averaged the 3.6 in his soph season, he also averaged 3.6 TOs per game. Lowry was the PG this past season at Villanova, while Foye played a role that was really more like a point forward. Projecting Foye as an NBA PG is a stretch.

As a scorer he did put in 20.5 PPG as a senior, but his .411 FG%, .350 3P% and 1.23 PPS are weak for a SG. The latter two of these numbers are his career highs. His career high FG% is .421. These numbers just don’t match up to what the top SG prospects are putting up. The fact that he posted them as a senior and it was his best college season, suggest that he’ll struggle to score efficiently enough in the NBA.

Defensively he’s pretty solid and that’s probably going to have to be his thing in the pros. At 6’4”, he’s big, strong and athletic enough to cover most guards and some SFs. With the league getting smaller and quicker, this is going to be a valuable asset and is something that will make Foye a nice player to have, whether his offense is adequate or not.

The problem is he’s being chatted up as a top ten prospect and I just don’t see that. Any team thinking they’re going to fill a hole at PG or perimeter offense by drafting Foye will be disappointed. If a team is just looking to add a good athlete/defender to their backcourt mix, Foye is a good candidate for such a role.

Foye had to play PF in college because his team had 4 guards that started. This is a fact. One of the best things people have to say about him is that he plays BIG on defense and grabs a lot of boards. I actually think he will be able to play point though. I am not sure why he has not been given a chance at point. He is an excellent dribbler and passer when he needs to.

And that's as a senior. That's a huge red flag. How many great offensive players in the NBA struggled so much to score efficiently in college? I can't think of any.

Plus, I'm just sick and tired of the undersized backcourt. We get someone like Brewer, and he have a potential defensive stopper who might also develop into a strong offensive player -- a guy with size who could possiblly play three different positions. If it's a choice between Brewer and Foye -- I hope to God the Rockets go with Brewer.

And this same genious writer has Rudy Gay slipping to #11?

I think the point is not what Foye could do for the rockets, but being the consensus best player avaiable, if nobody slips to us at #8. If we can move back a few slots and get a Brewer or Carney, and pick up a future 1st rounder (or ??), then you have to look at all options.

Personally, I think somebody will slip to us at #8. EVERY YEAR their is always a surprise (or two) so somebody is going to fall to us. Just have no idea on who?

I think we'll get a guy like roy or gay especially if the the telfair trade goes through because this is how i see it going: Bargnani, Aldridge, Gay, Morrison, Williams, Foye, Thomas, and that leaves us with Roy

It would be to much for both Williams and Foye to jump in front of us. I am hoping at least one goes in the top 7, and some other surprise happens (WHICH ALWAYS HAPPENS ON DRAFT NIGHT). If we can walk away with Thomas, Gay or Roy, we should feel blessed.

His collegiate shooting stats are Bogans like. I'm not saying he's going to be Bogans because he certainly has more athleticism and might be able to overcome his inability to shoot ... just pointing out that that kind of shooting gets you atop the brick index. He's just getting extra hype now because of Wade, but the thing is Wade was measured at 6-5 in shoes (he's listed at 6-4 in the NBA), Foye was 6-3 in shoes and now they are trying to bump him up to 6-4 and say he's the same height as Wade when there is a 2" in shoes difference. Wade is also much longer, where as Foye's wingspan is more proportional to his overall height. I just can't see any Wade in him. Oh and Wade only played 2 years of college ball, Foye 4.

I hope someone in the top 7 gets Foye happy so Roy or Gay can fall to us.

wow, you're either giving Foye too much credit or dissing Francis. I don't know which one. Steve Francis with more consistency would be a GREAT player. If you told me a prospect was Stro with passion and consistency I would be very interested in that player. Foye will be lucky to be Steve Francis with inconsistency.

No more guys that can't shoot. We have enough of those on this team. We need a shooter in the worst way. I will be pissed if the Rockets don't draft someone in the first round that hit at least 40% from downtown in college.

funny thing is that I think we have more of a chance of Roy falling to us because of knee concerns than we do, Foy falling to #8. I bet he's off the board by the time we pick.

I hope the Rockets move up to take Roy - trade Head if they have to. I truly think Roy could be a HUGE help to the Rockets well into the future. If they miss out on Roy and end up having to choose between Foye & Brewer, I say take Brewer because as far as needs go, Foye won't give us much more than what Head gives us. I'm not saying Head isn't a good player or Foye isn't capable of doing more as a pro(here comes that "potential" word), but whomever we take as a combo guad in the draft MUST be athletic and able to defend and shoot. It's questionable whether Foye can shoot well right now(although that could be fixed with lots of practice but it's going ot take several years) although he has decent athleticism & defense.

Brewer on the other hand can't shoot well either but he brings athleticism & defense in a much longer frame than Foye. The only thing that keeps Brewer from being a higher pick is scouts think his arm injury will never allow him to rise above his broke shot. No worries for Houston because they aren't looking for a project anyway. The thing about Brewer thats good is you can move him the 2 or 3 depending on the matchup and it will give Tmac the flexibility to slide into different roles for Houston and really start to use his versatility.

If they draft Foye, I won't be mad about it though because I think he has the potential to be a fiery type of leader and bring intangibles - something Bob Sura & Jon Barry brought to the team on their best days. Foye is my early favorite to make the "All Sam Cassel Rookie Team" for Rookies with big ones.

The biggest dilemna for the Rockets is whether to trust that Arn Tellem can/will deliver Roy to Houston. He really ends up satisfying both his clients if he does partner Roy & Tmac. I just wonder how much control he really has over where his player's go. I hear he is a powerful agent, but that powerful?

Another scenario I haven't yet seen mentioned is if the Rockets take a guy like Brewer at the 8th pick and then trade Head & the 32nd pick for a late first rounder and try and pick up Reddick since he is obviously going to slip even further with the news yesterday of his herniated disc. I think the Rockets have to at least consider that if their needs are shooting, athelticism, and defense at the guard. Ya, it's not one player with the total package, but having Brewer and Roy switching off late in games according to the possesion arrow is not a bad luxury. Then they turn one rotation player(Head) into two rotation players since it's likely whomever the Rockets pick at the 32nd spot they won't consider giving playing time to(if a roster spot at all) unless they get in dire need like this past year(which is really why Head played as much as he did anyway).

I've floated that idea a couple of times since yesterday, except that I went with just using the #32 plus cash instead of luther. I'd target New Jersey's #23 pick. They've got two picks back to back, and they've got an owner that's not interested in paying the luxury tax, and have nixed deals and traded away first round picks for financial reasons. So they'd be an excellent target.

...and this is exactly why we need to be on the Rocket's payroll.

I for one, can be had for cheap.

I actually like your idea better and it makes sense because the difference between a late first round pick and a second round pick figures to be nearly 600k which is a lot for a team trying to avoid the luxury threshold. By my scenario, Luther Head might actually cost more to the Nets than just drafting a player at that spot. Cash makes much more sense...
