The Astros will have a shot to make a run again, everyone should be pumped up for the Texans and a bounce back year and after the draft wednesday and the free agent period we all should be pumped up for Rocketball! My wishlist Astros and Rockets winning championships (it could happen) Texans turning it around ie. the 2005 Miami team and then after Les Alexander recives the Larry O'Brian trophy from Stern we will be talking about how the Texans are gonna win the AFC South in 07! Things have been real bad since game 6 of the NLCS but hey in sports things change very fast, Let's go Houston.
I really like our chances right now as far as the Texans in the AFC South -I think we're really going to jump back as a team on the rise, at least matching the 7-9 record if not sniffing a 9-7. -I think the Colts are going to falter big time, since no Edge equals no need to play them in anything but a nickel. What, is Peyton going to scramble? -The Titans aren't going to be competitive until Vince gets his feet wet. Still, there's the possibility that he does terrorize teams in a few games. -The Jags are the only strong bet to not go away anytime soon, because of their D. Still, we've shown we can bite them a fair bit. Evan
in the past 12 months my team won it's first pennant and played in the world series. that's not a bad year, to me.
I think this was a great year. The Rockets are figuring out what needs to happen. They are still adjusting to so many changes the past few years. The Texans are revamping their coaching staff and players so this will be a whole new team next season. The Stros are still #1 in my book and always will be, I don't care where I am. I think they will pull through. That's just the way Houston sports teams do things. They stress us out and come through in the end.
Heard an interview with Carr this morning and he was talking about what a breath of fresh air Kubiak's new system is compared to Dom's 'max protect' (ie. boring, predictable and unimaginative ) system. As much as I love baseball and I love my Astros, baseball is my 3rd favorite sport behind football and basketball, so this is my least favorite time of year. When to the Texans rookies report?
I heard 610 talking about his "candid" comments, but they didn't actually say what he said. Was that it?
It was something like that. Keep in mind, my alarm is set for 6:09 right when Jeremy's report comes on, so I may have been a little groggy. But I did hear him saying something to the effect of how nice it is to have more than one checkoff option on every play and also how nice it is that the person in charge of the QB postion actually played the QB position. Ouch. BTW, as bad as the Astros are playing, we're only 3.5 out of the wildcard and we're not even to the All Star break yet.
He talked about how much better it is when the players, the QB especially, actually buy into the offensive system being preached. He apparently made mention of how well Charles Spencer has been playing, although I missed that part. All the players sound really upbeat about this coming season. It's contagious.
That is good news but hell this season comes down to the bullpen turning things around and Pettitte getting back on track. Roy O looked goog Sunday and after we come out of the break we will have Clemens rolling again and Backe back.
YEEEEESSSS~!!!!! We can make surge in the 2nd half of the season.... And yes people make it to the world series.......!!! Its possible... Only to get swept again because we don't have enough firepower in the lineup....... 2nd Sweep in row here we come... But Hey are goal is only to get to the world series not win one...
Yeah, like the '82 Cardinals. Or the '03 Marlins (was it '03?). Or the '01 D-backs, all of whom faced opponents who were far superior offensively.
Second place in the Central = First place in the Wild Card standings That's how it's gonna be. Period. Perhaps even an exclamation point or two. That said, even after all of the so-called "disappointments" of the first half, the Astros are right there. You can see the potential in this team if they were to get it together. I mean, some ridiculous bullpen antics, some clearly subpar starting pitching, some major individual offensive struggles - and still .500. They just grind on through the problems somehow. And even if they get it all going smoothly, they'll still be grinding underneath. And that combo's impossible to beat 4 out of 7 times.
