Their rhetoric does not match thier actions. There is a word for that.

Their campaign contributions do match their actions. There is also a word for that.

...and somehow 9/11 is not included and may/will soon be quoted in due time that it was all a myth...Do you think that will happen?

I'm not sure if posts on a BBS by people who think they are anonymous are really newsworthy. Heck, we've seen threads like that here, where posters want to torture and kill this or that child molester, rapist or murderer. Considering that BBS is devoted to politics, I'm not surprised they would engage in the same kind of thoughtless talk in regards to political figures.

The founding fathers of this nation laid out a pretty effective form of government that has only needed minor tweaking in 230 years. I wish the politicians and Supreme Court justices in Washington would have more respect for it. I do not like the direction that our government has taken in the GWB years, but it isn't all GWB's fault. He has had plenty of accomplices.

We were involved in a "Cold War" with communism at the time of McCarthyism, but how we react as a society is what is important. Do we panic, let ourselves be ruled by fear and those who perpetuate fear? Or do we fight the good fight and find a good balance between civil liberties and safety in which laws are created, not circumvented, to deal with a new world. This administration is the most secret in history, and not just with terrorism, their special energy committee that Chaney runs and we have no idea who is on it or what their agenda is, just to name one. Terrorism has become the biggest chip used by this administration to get their political agenda through. That is wrong!

What these guys did is stupid.

However, left-leaning posters (Atrios, I believe) recently said that certain journalists would be the "first against the wall" during the revolution.

    Pretty sick on both accounts.

I respect your opinion, but mine is a change of mindset after 9/11 needed to happen...I think better people than this administration could have performed, but the basic premise of selective intervention abroad is one I absolutely agree with from President Bush and this mindset is a neccesity to validate the War on Terror for being most effective...

    9/11 upped the ante.

And with regards to interference, that's more like I don't want money that I earn going to support the dregs of society. That kind of stuff.

    Agreed.

Better to fight this war anywhere but home.

Hmm. Part of the problem arguing online here is that honesty is going to be mis-interpreted as goat-getting arrogance. But...

Yeah I think a national religion is a good thing. It unites people under a secondary banner besides just nationalism. I also think religion helps people, encourages strong moral character, etc. I am just too intelligent to believe in a religion personally. :p

Agreed about compromise. The nature of the political system here seems to be a zero-sum game. Thus each side has to play to the extremes or risk having no influence I guess? It's sad to see.

So you are too smart for religion, but you can't figure out that is possible to fight terrorists abroad and still have terrorism to combat at home as well?

That strategy didn't work out too well for the people who were killed in the bombings in London, Spain, Morocco, etc.

I may be wrong, but his reasoning of fighting abroad is the basis of reducing the ease of 9/11's happening...Of course, homeland security and being vigilant are key criteria internally as well...That is my outlook.

Couldn't one say that the spread of Communism to China and Korea upped the ante in the Cold War? Or the burning of the Reichstag upped the ante in post-war Germany? I'll never understand the upping the ante business. There is always something going on. If it isn't the World Trade Center, there will always be something else to rally around. When do we get to live the existence we planned for ourselves when we wrote the Constitution?

When we conquer the rest of the world, and all humanity is united under a single world government.

    Seriously.

your vision might be one of a homeland that you would like very much. It might be a nice and secure place for all of its citizens to live. But it is very un-American.
