Most of the movies that we talked about here is NOT Karate, it's Kung Fu.

Kung Fu movies is the best, any Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee (Except Hollywood) movies are great to watch, and when talked about the martial art movies, you gota go with HONG KONG MADE, they're the best out of the best.

Well he did put Martial Arts in parentheses to encompass the whole spectrum. The term karate just has a bit more cultural awareness in America due to a ton of crappy 80's (The Karate Kid excepted :p ) Karate/Ninja movies.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Enter the Dragon

Not only is it a great Kung Fu movie its also a great 70's movie that combines all three of the top 70's action movie genres in one. There's the Kung Fu movie, the suave white guy ala James Bond and the Black Power character ala Badasss! and Shaft. The only thing it needs is a car chase and it would be the greatest 70's action movie ever.

Highly recommend the special edition DVD that has scenes that were cut out of the original where Bruce Lee explains his martial arts philosophy and scenes of Bruce Lee training.

Some other martial arts movie picks for me are:
Project A Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung at his comedic finest. The bike chase scene is pure genius.
Supercop IMO Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh's best martial arts and stunts.
Once Upon a Time in China Before Tsui Hark got stuck doing crappy Van Damme movies he was a director with great vision and had a star in Jet Li who could execute that vision.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Set the standard in terms of acting and cinematography for martial arts movie. Without its critical success a whole slew of high quality dramatic martial arts movies like, Hero, Musa the Warrior and Warriors of Heaven and Earth might never have been made.
Hero IMO the best of new dramatic martial movies. Zhang Yi Mou shows an amazing sense of vision and cinematography.

Riki-Oh... aka The Story of Ricky

One of the goriest films ever made. Not much as far as plot, but I found it very entertaining.
