“A war initiated on faulty intelligence must not be followed by a premature withdrawal of our troops based on a political timetable. An untimely exit would rapidly devolve into a civil war which would leave American foreign policies in disarray as countries would question America’s judgment and perseverance.”
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1652393/posts Russert: But in 2004, you had a view that was much different than you had now, and this is what you wrote in your book: “A war initiated on faulty intelligence must not be followed by a premature withdrawal of our troops based on a political timetable. An untimely exit could rapidly devolve into a civil war, which would leave America’s foreign policy in disarray as countries question not only America’s judgment but also its perseverance.” Aren’t you now advocating that? Murtha: Yeah, you’re absolutely right…there comes a time when you got to change direction.
Why change direction? What are the valid reasons from having the contrast of mindset then till now?...
Murtha is taking his cues from people in the military. They think Iraq has become a lost cause, but know the consequences of speaking out against this admin. Besides Bush and his Admin now lack credibility, something that Murtha has in spades. You know the Bush Admin promised a bunch of stuff that turned out to be lies or dellusional thinking: greeted with hugs and flowers oil would pay for everything troups would be home in six months we know where the WMD is hidden insurgency is in its last throes stay the course etc. Most of which was PR BS, the trademark of the Bush Admin. Murtha is speaking for the average man in the military.
Score two more points for the Red team! The scoreboard at half-time - Red = 1,000,000 Blue = 1,000,000 American People = 0
Cause there already was/is a bloody civil war which we have contributed too. His initial assessment was wrong.
giddyup - nice find. This serves to buttress my belief that the liberals simply throw **** until something sticks, even if it means running around in circles and changing their positions.
