To forget about a child in the backseat of a car? I am really pondering this question because I just don't know what the response should be to "I got distracted about something and just forget." A recent death down near Little Rock prompted me to ask this because if my sister forgot one of my nieces or nephew I don't know if I could be understanding or really mad. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060624/ap_on_re_us/hot_car_deaths
I have seen children who literally are raising themselves. The parents do not discipline or guide them, and the oldest (now 10) makes food for the 7 and 5 year old. At a wedding we went to, they couldn't locate the 10 year old at the end of the night, and the 7 and 5 year old ate all the candy off of 3 surrounding guest tables. I hope they are never forgotten about in the back of a car, but yes, I can see how parents put anything else in front of their kids.
Several years ago during the middle of the summer I helped (along with a few other folks) break into a car to get a little baby out that was sweltering in a car seat -- windows up in a parking lot . It was probably 120 degrees or more in that car -- the police were called. The dad was at a job interview in one of the offices in the business complex and couldn't find a sitter.
So, he intentionally left the baby in the car? That is the absolute worst. Guy should go to jail for 10 years. With children comes great responsibility... . I'm sorry but if you forget a child is in your car...THEN YOU ARE A FREAKING MORON! I don't give a crap what is on your mind. It's just unfathomable how this happens. You shouldn't be around children if you can't remember you have them.
that's right Stay unemployed and let them starve While I think it was dumb of him .. but goodness to think . . we have no faith that our potential employer will understand .. . or even attempt too . . . Prospective Employer: uhm .. hey Prospective Employee: Couldn't find a sitter. . I hope you don't mind me bringing the baby in with me Prospective Employer: Sure. . uhm .. no .. problem Prospective Employee: I am everything you need. . here are all my reference Baby: wwwwaaaa waaaa waaaa Prospective Employer: tell you what. . .we'll be in contact with you when we make a decision Prospective Employee: oh . . ok [they leave] Prospective Employer: YEA! right. . . [throw his app in the trash] . . TWO POINTS!! Rocket River
I agree -- I can't believe anyone is trying to justify that a job is more important than a child. If he didn't get that job the kid wouldn't starve to death. It's not that extreme. The guy was a moron -- not other circumstances are needed.
Huh?? So every day all across the nation, parents are facing the same choice. Either: 1. Go to a job interview and leave the child in the car to cook or 2. Never go to a job interview and let your child starve to death. You're saying these are the ONLY 2 alternatives?
I don't know this person they made a bad decision but evidently. . . they felt a bit desperate desperate situation make people stupid but I guess none of you have ever did anything stupid or desperate . . . . . i know i know. . . NOTHING ON THIS LEVEL blah blah blah . . . enjoy the high life. .the mistake free life the perfect lil lives where everything is perfectly done by you since you are so perfect. . . don't worry about the flawed being that would leave his child in the car to try and get a job other than of course to trying beat them into a prison somewhere I mean . .. this could be the perfect storm of punishment He didn't get the job He will probably lose his child and he will probably goto prison Anyone want to cut his hands off while we at it? Rocket River
I guess you're right. Someone let's a baby fry in the back seat of a car, but who are we to judge? After all, nobody's perfect.
I think there is a difference between the "stupid" things we all do.. and knowingly leaving a kid in a car where the baby could die.
no no, you've got it all backwards. "a child is always less important than a job, and family too for that matter." - Book of Maccabees, 13:22
I have a 2 yr. old son and could not even fathom doing something like that. That's horrible. To mistakenly close the door with the keys inside or something like that is one thing, but to either just blatantly leave your child there or completely forget about him or her is inexcusable. Those defending the guy interviewing are assuming he doesn't already have a job. It doesn't matter anyway. You DON'T leave you child in the car for ANY period of time. Between the sweltering heat and the chance of child abduction that seems to be rampant, you don't leave your child to fend and defend themselves by themselves. The guy was clearly thinking of himself first. And hello, you call the potential job and reschedule and tell them the situation. If they don't understand, it's an employer you don't want to work for anyway.
How about this one...last night I go to McDonald's at 330 in the morning to get a late night snack. It's a 24-hour drive through...The lady working the 2nd window has her child there at work with her at 330 in the morning. He's rolling around on the floor for entertainment. On one hand, I understand that the mother must be in a desperate situation and is doing what she can do to provide for her child--but, on the other hand, her kid is at McDonald's at 330 in the morning bored out of his mind. Can't be good for his growth + health. What I don't understand about the situation, is that job cannot pay that well. I know someone that works at McD's during the day shift making 5.15--so I'm thinking MAX this lady is making 7 dollars an hour for working late at night, maybe less. She could easily find another job with more reasonable hours that would pay her what she's making already. She might have another job already--but still!!
