The 5 Deadly Venoms is one of my all time Favorites The Flying Gilotines was great as was Super Ninjas Lone Wolf and Cub was great Bruce Lee goes without saying WORSE: Gymkata - so stupid it was funny . . and most things with Billy Blanks Rocket River
My absolutely must see's are Jet Li's "Fist of Legend" Excellent homage to Bruce Lee's Chinese Connection, highly recommended. Bone crunching blast! Jet Li is one seriously hellacious ass-kicking mofo in this film! Jackie Chan's "Drunken Master 1" and "Drunken Master 2". Amazing athleticism from Jackie at his peak acrobatic form. Jaw dropped a few times during viewing these 2 movies. Bruce Lee's "Return Of the Dragon" is my all-time favorite. Bruce and Chuck Norris at the Roman Colliseum fighting to the death like modern-day gladiators is a sight to behold. Probably the most masterful and memorable fight scene in martial arts films to date.
Ong-Bak. Plot is, of course, unimportant. Just watch Tony Jaa go crazy on everyone and pull off some amazing gymnastics. Incredible athleticism. Drunken Master, as Winkn stated, also rules. Haven't seen 2 so can't make a judgement on that one.
FYI, drunk Fatty came home with plenty. Unfortunately, tonight, Fatty sleeps alone. Don't stop believing!
Don't hate. I'm not sure what I miss more, Saturday morning cartoons or the kung fu movie that always came on at noon after the cartoons...
I can't believe nobody's mentioned the Karate Kid. But seriously anybody that grew up in the 80's knows that the Karate Kid is the s***. As for the rest, I've always been partial to period piece Kung Fu movies like Hero and Crouching Tiger. I saw a ton of those when I was a kid but haven't seen many since. I guess I could go to specialty shops and browse, or look it up on the internet, but that's a bit more work than I'm willing to do.
Ong Bak. I actually bought this movie based upon recommendations. I've heard of movies with some sucky plots, but this had to have been the most horrific movie I've watched in terms of plot. The only parts that were good were the chase scenes where everything was placed juuuuust right for him to fly, hop, and skip through. God, I can't believe I spent money on this. As for me : Any Bruce Lee movie. Five Deadly Venoms (a must for any martial arts fan) A bunch of "classic kung fu" movies I can't think of at the moment - you know, the stuff that always used to come on Kung Fu Theater on Saturdays. I'm not big on Jackie Chan or Jet Li. I don't like modern settings in martial arts movies, to be honest.
What about Bruce LeRoy? That has to be up there in terms of classic Martial Arts film. remember "The Glow"? I might watch this DVD tonight... "Who is the baddest?" "SHOGUN!"
I was just watching the Karate Kid last night ... there's a pretty hilarious song they play when they're at 'Golf 'n Stuff'.
This list begins and ends with Karate Kid. these guys know what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbYBb9D6cdg&search=karate kid
