I think Miles would and can help us alot more than Juwan with a crippling contract could... let them have him
I just can not see Darius Miles cooexisting with Jeff Van Gundy. If we could somehow trade him for an extra pick, that would be awesome.
This is is my worry as well. But you can also look at it like : #4 for #8 + JHo. I'd still do that. Yeah, then of course, there is Miles' contract... how bad is it?
This sounds like a helluva steal for the Rox. Miles' value is at all-time low and this is the best time to get him. The risk is there, but the Rox isn't exactly giving up much there. That said, Portland should ask for a little more from the Rox if I was them.
Quite honestly, I'm not sure why the Portland would do this. The only reason would be to save money so that a sale of the team would be more appealing. I'm assuming we're the only ones that would take on the contract....
He signed a 6-year, 48 million dollar contract before the 04/05 season, according to this It's pretty bad; it would be a gamble. I think it's worth it. And we should not take Tyrus Thomas in that situation if Roy is available. Brandon Roy, far and away, is the better pick for us. Darius Miles can play some minutes at PF if we want to go small, and we still have Swift and Hayes.
I think the Rox want Adam Morrison at #4. I think he is the best fit for our team, hopefully he will last that far. If not, I think they take Brandon Roy. As for Miles, his dope smoking, lazy, bad attitude doesn't fit with our team, and just as soon as we could, he would be jettisoned for another bad contract. I would do this deal if I was making the call.
It is a good trade, but you have to be sure that Miles will be a good fit and has a good attitude. Howard's Contract: 2006-2007: Almost 6.4 Million 2007-2008: Almost 6.8 Million 2008-2009: Almost 7.4 Million (Player Option) Miles's Contract: 2006-2007: 7.25 Million 2007-2008: 7.75 Million 2008-2009: 8.25 Million 2009-2010: 9 Million 2010-2011: 9 Million You also better hope that Thomas is not a bust and turns out to be a good power forward.
according to hhype: 06/07,$7,750,000 07/08, $8,250,000 08/09, $9,000,000 09/10, $9,000,000 this juwan's: $6,392,100 $6,883,800 $7,375,500
From I can tell, Tyrus Thomas might be slipping to #8. In case Houston can't work out a deal for the #4 to pick Roy, there's a very good chance that TT will be on the board at #8. The Rockets are just doing their due diligence in evaluating him. Brandon Roy is still our guy at this point.
Miles has publicly requested a trade, and is not a fan favorite in Portland. They just want to move him. Also, Randolph is not a fan favorite- was recently caught street racing in downtown portland at 3 am with 2 guns in his car. Both cars that were racing were his, and he was a passenger in one.
Damn. Miles has a rediculous contract. I really, really would like to see us get the 4th pick, but I wouldn't take Thomas with it. And getting Miles with that contract? I hope we get a sweetener beyond what I've heard, so far.
Miles averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds last year, while shooting an abysmal 53% from the line. At that price point, I'll pass. Sounds like another Mo Taylor. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/stats?statsId=3402
http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1366 The Rockets apparently have rejected a trade of Juwan and #8 for Miles and #30 and #31. Thank God. I think Miles and #4 for Juwan and #8 is probably farfetched. But if it's there ... very hard to refuse. Miles can't be THAT much of a headcase ... can he?
