Thanks a bunch for that mokulen.

Good interview (Jarrett Jack call was such a waste). I know he was asked about Brewer, but it seemed like CD spent most of the time talking about him.
Like McGrady posted, when asked about Roy compared to Brewer/Carney, CD was pretty quick to defend Brewer and I actually don't even recall him mentioning Carney.

I understand that there could be smokescreens and that most comments concerning the draft should be taken lightly since we are at that time. But it sounded like CD was pretty serious when he said "He hurt himself with his back." I bet JJ was a serious contendor at #8, but after the injuries we had this past season and w/ the trouble TMac has had w/ his back, I bet that dropped JJ pretty far down their list.

if you wanna talk about smoke screens then here it is:

when asked if he'd be happy with brewer or carney at #8 (meaning, are those the guy's you're looking at) CD says "yeah, um well other guys too."

there's your smoke screen. there are no other guys, unless someone falls.

CD's tone when talking about JJ sounded like he really wanted to take this guy but the back scared him off. there is no smoke screen here. that was as honest an answer as you'll ever hear. "did JJ's DUI hurt him?", "well his back hurt him!"

his tone was almost like saying "it's too bad". he says "jj is a gym rat and one of the nicest guys...(it's too bad)"

no JJ, brewer or carney, or someone falls. book it.

Let's take JJ. Besides his obvious skills, I feel that he and TMac will have great chemistry because they make a brokeback tandem. ;)

I take what CD said with a grain of salt. Everybody knows the Rockets are hush hush and tightlipped about everything they do.

If you want to say that the comments about Redick mean that the back scared them off, I would also say that Brewer's lack of shooting has scared them off from Brewer. It seems as though the one hold up on drafting Redick is the back.

Did any "other guys" besides those three even come up?

He was asked about Shelden Williams, if they would consider him if he was available. He said they would. Said that he had a good workout with them as with all his other workouts with other teams. He is a little undersized, but has long arms , is athletic and has a nice, spot-up jumper which they like a lot. Said he will be a good pro.

I haven't seen it posted in the thread, but it was interesting how he talked about he always tries to move up in the draft. Said he has talked with all 7 teams ahead of them, but (with all the uncertainty in this draft) it seems everyone is staying where there are as of now. Also, if anyone else caught it, but he made a comment that Toronto was holding everything up cause they thought they were going to be able to make a trade.

Sounds like CD popped the Redick balloon not that it had much air in it anyway. JJs back pretty much rules him out because JJs camp doesn't seem to have been timely in reporting the nature of JJs problem. I would think that most GMs would take a hands off stance on Redick unless they get more information from his camp on his injury.

Thank you... I wonder what he would trade to the Celtics to move up one spot. On the Toronto trade, do you know if he meant a trade with other players on their roster (Nesterovic) or trading the actual pick?

CD would NEVER let anyone know who he wants, he never has, never will.

If he downplayed Redick, and was worried about his back, that is a smoke screen.

I guarantee he knows what Redick's back issue is, and whether there even IS a back issue.

To me, reading the tea leaves, sounds like Redick is the pick.

    nope.

said roy, brewer, carney are all very close. maybe someone will fall to us from the top 6. jj hurt himself with his back issue and it's a red flag.

after that he was asked to confirm that he would be happy with brewer or carney at #8 and he said yes, but there are others too.

almost seemed like he didn't want to commit to liking brewer and carney just yet so he threw in "other guys" just to make it seem like there is a mix they like when in fact it's brewer or carney if no one falls to us.

What are you going to do with that JJ bandwagon when he winds up in Utah?

Cry everytime he beats us with his dead eye shooting, and whine about how the Rockets screwed up another draft.

I'll just summarize what he said about each player he was asked about. Some is redundant in the thread, but I thought we could have a summary of the players in one spot. I wrote these down as I was re-listening to the interview again.

Carney - Very atheltic, long, very fast, mother and father track athletes which picked up good genes, nice shot, catch-and-shoot guy right now, doesn't have the floor game you want but will come pretty fast, shooting very attractive.

Brewer - Weakness is shooting although working very hard on it, very athletic, impressive in workout, length is to behold, shooting will come along, rebounding & defense is a big plus.

Roy - talked about Brewer and how close all three SG's are to each other.

Bargnani - Projected to be an impact player, 6'11 frame, moves well, shoots the ball well.

    S. Willaims - Worked out well, a little under-sized but has tremendous reach, will be a really solid player, suprised if he is there at #8.

Novak - Shoots the ball very well, played in a very NBA-type system, spot up shot which is very attractive.

Pittsnoggle - Shot the ball like crazy when he was here, almost 6'11, shoots extremely well from 3, probably weighs around 275-280 lbs., physical condition has to pick up, might have to play center which will hurt him.

Reddick - Hurt himself with the back, trying to find out more about it cause it is a red flag, gym-rat of all-time, one of the nicest young men you could talk to.

I loved CD's line about having Novak, Pittsnogle, and Redick in for back-to-back-to-back workouts that they had to get new nets for the baskets.

Clutch just put up this article:

Very interesting. At the bottom you will find this quote from an unspecified source:
