you guys would be nutz not to draft Bargnani...don't know how you guys are saying maybe...that's crazy...this kid unlike Nikoloz Tskitishvili gets playing time (in pressure situation...playoffs)...PLUS he produces night in and night out...not a very good rebounder...but shoots over 50% from the 3 pt line.. weight is 250 pounds...i think he would be the perfect PF for the Rockets. However there is no way he drops...Toronto is picking him #1…BC I picking him unless someone offers Dwayne Wade.
I agree. It is not an even comparison between Andrea and Nikolov, since Nikolov never even got off the bench for Treviso. If he did fall to us at 8, and they decide not to take him I would trade him with one of our bad contracts (ie Howard/Swift) and send him to a team and have them send us Brewer and someone else that has a shorter contract term.
The ONLY reason he would drop to 8 was if he pulled a Fran Vazquez, and in that case you can't risk it. If he does not do that he won't be there. I don't see why two players that a lot of people keep thinking will "fall" are Morrison and Bargnani. The league is going the way of SKILLED athletes and guys with good size that can shoot and run just like these two. And look who has the top 2 picks............
Seems to be some great press out about Barganni today (draftexpress, realgm). If he falls to #8, which won't happen, but to dream, you draft him.
Then who has the greatest chance of falling. If Toronto does the smart thing they either trade their pick for a lower pick and Magloire, or they draft Aldridge. Than Chicago is supposedly locked in to Ty Thomas. That leaves Morrison and Gay going to Charlotte and Portland or vice versa. Shelden to Atlanta. And Minnesota is staring at Roy or Bargnani. I think they take Roy and then Boston is left with Bargnani or reaching for someone else. The other scenario is Toronto takes Morrison #1, Thomas to Chicago #2, then Gay to Charlotte #3. Than Portland either takes Aldridge and trades him to Toronto along with one of their point guards for the right to Morrison, or they just keep him. Shelden to Atlanta. Once again, either Roy or Bargnani to Minny. I think they take Roy. And then Boston is sitting there looking at Bargnani once again. What are the other scenarios where another player drops?
This is a tough call, no doubt about it. There's the part of me that buys into the hype that this guy actually is NBA ready and could be perhaps even a poor man's version of Dirk Nowitzki, which would certainly make him better than anything we're getting out of Howard or Swift. Then there's the part of me that thinks JVG won't play him and all we would be doing is creating a logjam at PF while doing nothing to address our precarious situation at SG. There's also the part of me that looks back to the '03 draft and see's Maciej Lampe's NBA comparison as non other than Dirk Nowitzki as well. Like I said, its a tough call and i'm not sure really what I would do. Listening to offers on the table would certainly be first priority given the fact that we need immediate help and we have a stronger need elsewhere. Although I do believe if any of the consensus top six fall to us at #8 its going to be Tyrus Thomas anyways. In which case: TRADE TRADE TRADE!
Forget about the top 4 teams. The real wildcard I believe is the Hawks. They could trade, they could draft Marcus Williams, Shelden Williams, Ty Thomas, Bargani (if he was there) etc That team is just way too hard to predict.
If Bargnani falls to 8 then you have to consider taking him. Everyone is saying that there are no stars in this draft but he is one of the few who they are saying has the potential to be one. You can get guys to fill out holes in FA and trades who are as good as anyone else who might fall to the 8. I say draft the guy if he is there.
How many people here saw him last year in that exhibiton game in the preaseason against Toronto? I was quite shocked then at how good that kid was. I never had even heard of him before and he just came in and was at certain points absolutely abusing Bosh. He can put it on the floor from behind the 3 point line and seemingly get to the rim at will and throw down hard on people. He's actually much quicker and much better ball handler than Dirk, and he finishes hard at the rim. He plays more like Pau as a face up, but he attacks more aggresive like Amare. I honestly didn't even see much outside shooting from him, but supposedly he has that range. I think the Dirk label may be just another brilliant label from the scouts who seem to lazy to actually compare players at all. Like Redick is Kerr, Yao is Smits Kobe is Jordan etc. But that kid is an agreesive mofo with some serious handle and quicks at that size.
According to draftexpress, Minnesota is all over Randy Foye, so if they grab him at 6, another one will drop. http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1358
LOL. Chris Dudley is better than Howard. Jon Koncak. Greg Kite. Joe Kleine. I'm sorry. I take it back. They are too old. Howard is better than them.
If he falls to #8, the rockets should pick him up. He seems like a good fit for the rockets, if not trade to the suns for Barbosa. The suns get a a big man who can run and shoot, and D'Antonie gets one of his Italian players, rockets get get a young and quick SG.
Pick him up and trade Stomile Swift for one of the next 2-3 picks and also draft Brewer, Carney, or Reddick
