interesting. in his blog he denies it. but the nba clearly thinks he did something pretty significant to hit him up with a fine like that.

Mark Cuban is a total jackass fan.

I've said it before. He has no business being on an NBA floor befor during or after games or standing near the huddles during timeouts for that matter. He should be treated like any fan would if they ran up on a ref after a game or was acting the way he does during games. Any of us would be banned from games if we went on the floor to b**** at a ref like he did.

but the league didn't say that's why they fined him and I'm pretty sure his actions of basically throwing a tantrum and then his blog got him fined. one person is claiming to have heard this.

Makes you wonder how much 250k dollars really is and makes you laugh that a 380 dollar fine for Ben Roethlisberger is big news.

You can say that about pretty much all of the other owners in the NBA as well. The only other owner, I think, that shares as much "passion" as Cuban is the new choad that owns the Suns.

As for rigging games, it's pretty much ridiculous to think so. It's an 82 game season plus like another 12+ games to even get to the Finals. Is biasness involved? Of course! Stars gets the call all the time. They bring in the revenue , they get the calls. Simple as that. Is it a fair system? Not one bit. But for every Dallas fan that complains about Wade getting calls, there are NBA fans that complains about Dirk's acting job. At least is driving to the basket where physical contact is inevitable. Dirk just dribbles, stops, and flails his arms up like there's no tomorrow. You cannot deny even our own Tracy McGrady gets star treatment either.

As for the FT disparity, until someone shows me another version of Game 5 where Dallas penetrated as much as Dwyane Wade did, there's nothing to complain about. Sure he got a bunch of FTs, but:

-It wasn't like MJ back in the day. If you even lay one finger on Jordan back then--even when he was just standing around--that was a foul. Wade had to be crafty and use his body in order to get those calls

-Like some have said, if the Mavericks didn't go into hack-a-shaq mode, Wade wouldn't be at the line so much. By hacking Shaq, it just pads more team fouls and gets Dallas into the penalty quicker. By fouling Wade in the act of shooting, it gets Wade to the line easier.

Is there biasness? Of course. Is it rigged? Hardly, unless you think that star preferential treatment is an act of "rigging" the game.

Stern on Patrick said Cuban didn't say anything to him and he was in ear's distance.

He didn't want to get into details, but said it had to do with Cuban running out onto the floor. He also said Cuban is doing a disservice to his team and he (Stern) is trying to help him.

It's his team. Fans don't get fined hundreds of k's for their heated words.

I had no idea Cuban hired former officials to grade every Mavs game and he sends tapes in to the NBA office. Dude is nuts.

The commisioner was just on with Dan Patrick and Keith Oberman and he said Mark Cuban said nothing to him after the game and they were standing very close. He would not elaborate on the multiple infractions that earned him the fine other than the fact that he ran out onto the floor, but said the story out of Miami was false.

It doesn't matter if it's his team or not. It's unacceptable behavior. His team is in a league and that league has rules. You can not allow him to continue to verbally harass the officials in that manner and Cuban's obviously not being discouraged by the fines from doing so.

I'm actually worried about Cuban. If the Mavs lose the Finals he might need to be on Suicide Watch.

Dallas won over the Rockets last year because Stern bought the refs, Jackson admitted it to JVG who went off.

Stern threatened to kick him out of the league.

The bottom line is Cuban is mad because this finals was supposed to be rigged for Dallas and Wade is winning it over them despite that.

Dude should have thought about the possibility of losing before he shot his mouth off on Letterman about the Mavs winning 1 in Miami and closing it out in Dallas. That was grade a dumbass.

Anyone have that picture of Finley making the steal out of bounds last year. I don't remember Cuban getting hot under the collar about that bad call. So I assume the only change he wants made are for all the bad calls to go Dallas' way. F Cuban. Dishonest b*stard.

why do people keep saying the free throw disparity was because of hack-a-shaq? did y'all watch the game or look at the numbers?

as far as i can tell, shaq shot 4 free throws in the 4th quarter from intentional fouls. and the heat were already in the penalty so any subsequent fouls would have been worth free throws for anyone else. so that's 4 free throws from intentional fouls on shaq w/ no additional free throws from getting in the penalty. in OT, they fouled shaq twice out of the penalty, so no free throws for shaq. now you might think that helped get more free throws on non-shooting fouls for others by getting into the penalty, but in OT you need 4 team fouls to get in the penalty, or 2 fouls in the last 2 minutes. well dallas' 4th team foul was also their 2nd foul in the last two minutes, so again no additional free throws. so 4 out of 49 from hack-a-shaq, and 4 out of a 24 ft discrepancy.

now if you're just arguing that fouling shaq a lot in general will get you into the penalty quicker, then yes it will. but shaq has been fouled a lot his entire career and his teams don't average 24 extra free throws a game. in fact, the heat shot 1 more free throw per game this season than their opponent, even with wade already shooting 11 per game so it's not like a huge free throw discrepancy should just be expected. the mavs shot the same 28 per game in the regular season, so it doesn't seem that they are just a jump shooting team and the heat always take it inside.

oh, and whoever said wade wasn't getting jordan treatment, if 25 free throws in one game isn't jordan treatment, what is?

The point is that put Dallas in the penalty quicker, thus making any non-shooting foul a shooting situation.

The hack-a-Shaq assertion is spot on.

Did you read his whole post before replying? His whole point is that the assertion might be true in general, but not in game 5 at all.
