Did you see some of the fouls being dished against him in game 5? The guy was being knocked all over the place. Its not like he's settling for fadeaways and still getting foul calls in the last 2 minutes (cough.... Dirk... cough)... the guy is driving the ball to the hole every single chance he gets it (not easy), and at that point he's going to either score, or draw contact... and on multiple occasions he did both. Put it this way, if Dallas doesn't foul all those multiple times, Wade is likely making those LAYUPS... and then what will your argument be? The guy has an ability/determination to get to the rim that I haven't seen in a playoff game since Kevin Johnson torched the Rockets for 21 FT's, and close to 50 points in game 7 of the western conference semis (kiss of death game). Nobody should be saying he will be the next Michael Jordan... but the way he's carried his team to victory in games which his team looked all but done has to be seen as at least being Jordan-like... and that's all the media people need to salivate over somebody. BTW, when T-Mac was doing this in games 1 and 2 last year, people were all over the "T-Mac = next Jordan" train, and nobody here had a problem with it. The bottom line is that if you're a guard, and you carry your team to victory on the biggest of stages, you will be compared to the MAN... end of story.
Just the way Dwade was fouled on the Miami possession of over time...ohh wait...he wasn't...way to go refs I'll give you that half the time Dwade gets fouled but I think the other half of the time he takes the dive because he knows he's wearing all that padding....
Let's see how his style of play generates success in world championships and Olympic games. Last time I checked, he and AI charged into the lane again and again, threw up a prayer, and rarely got bailed out by the refs in the Olympic games.
Agree. Also count me as one who won't kiss his rear as of yet. Develop a consistent outside game instead of taking advantage of the current stupid NBA rules and then let's talk.
Go find the pictures where Wade did the same thing to Harris 3 times and never got called in the same game.
count me in. when the other team fears him as a threat to score from anywhere, anytime in the halfcourt, then get back to me and i'll see about booking my reservation on the wade express. until then, wade reminds me of emmit smith: very effective; champion (maybe); but ultimately underwhelming. pass. wow, just re-read my post, and it reminds me of when a picture of a hot chick is posted, and invariably some dude will be lukewarm and say, "meh, pass. i've seen/had better" don't get me wrong, i think wade is a force. but to be in the must-see-tv echelon of guards/swingmen, he needs a more fluid outside game that opponents fear, to add to his already unstoppable drives.
So first you say Wade wasn't fouled, then Max provides the photographic proof that we was absolutely fouled and your response is- but but Wade did it too. Weak.
Kobe had a similar team in the 2004 Finals, when Detroit shut him down and he didn't wanna give the ball to a younger Shaq (well, younger than he is now). The difference between Wade and Kobe is shot selection.
Although I'm pretty sure that picture is from the final play...I'm not totally positive..to be honest from the live footage I just saw dwade drive in...flail his arms and kick at Harris was about all..And if that was the foul...the refs blew the whistle a good 2-3 seconds afterwards...
It's amazing to me how many people refuse to give Wade his due. Just because he doesn't have the overall skillset and size of LeBron, Kobe or Tracy doesn't mean one thing. It's all about performance on the court, especially on the big stage. In his first three years in the league, this guy has set the NBA on fire and has carried his team to the cusp of an NBA championship. His actual performance counts more than "being a threat to score from anywhere". This is how goofy Laker fans (and Rich Lord) argue that Kobe is comparable to MJ. He isn't because there are so many intangibles that MJ brought to the table that Kobe never will.
I was always a Wade fan, but now, even more so...This kid is unbelievably great...Hands down, future HOF and MVP... He became a legend this series...
I haven't see a performance in the Finals like Wade had since a little old player called MJ. Wade put the Heat on his back and took them all the way. I don't see how anyone can try to take that away from him right now. He hit big shot after big shot and did everything he could do to win it. As far as being the best player in the NBA, I still have Lebron over him, but Championships is all that matters.
