If Cuban really said that (and I'm sure that enough people heard him to confirm, if he did), then hes going to be in some serious trouble.

    Can you suspend an owner?

This is the problem with the Mavs. As soon as we realized they were going to the finals, you had to know that if at any point a call did not go the Mavs way that Cuban would turn into a stark raving lunatic *sshole. And guess what, sinice it's the NBA finals, Stern can't really do anything about it without seemingly like a big stuffy tyrant.. unfairly so. Cuban thinks he is untouchable right now. He thinks he can intimidate referees and league officials. He is scum. He's not a "true" owner. He's the opposite. If he were the Rockets owner I would be EMBARASSED. How can anyone cheer for them, honestly?

I hate the Mavs just as much as anyone. But I'll say this in their defense.

If it were a Rockets game, and the free throw discrepancy was that bad, I'd be crying "foul" too.

Now shut up and play basketball, crybabies. And play terribly.

I heard about this and if it's true then there will be serious repurcussions for Cuban, or at least there should be, if its true

how much of the FT discrepancy was due to the Mav's intentional hack-a-Shaq plan?

Oh yeah.. and to all you Cuban defenders who think he's the best owner ever.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2006/news/story?id=2491783

Asked Monday night in an interview on Dallas television station WFAA if he would consider selling the team if he didn't see some of the league changes he wants, Cuban snapped his fingers and said "In a heartbeat. Yeah, if they drive me that crazy, in a heartbeat."

So the "best sports team owner ever" would pull up stakes and abandon his team if the league doesn't bow to his wishes, nay, demands??

    Right..

David Stern deserves to be f**ked in any possible way for rigging the NBA games and make it a laughing stock to fans and outsiders. I would put down $$ to hire a rapist to do it to him.

That reporter got that info third hand, his source was given the info from someone else, he didn't get confirmation, and he put it in the tenth pargraph in his column.

exactly. by starting hack-a-shaq, it put them in the penalty early. of course, that'll lead to more free throws, especially with how much Wade attacks teh basket. if you take away Shaq's free throws from intentional fouls, the discrepency is only about 5-6 free throws.

I'm torn, in one hand I know the NBA plays favorites and the refs are dirtier then Karla Malone in his heyday, on the other hand it's the Mavs that are being screwed this time...yeah I'm not really torn, I like the Mavs being screwed. :D

yep, cuban is right...the league is rigged. they though san antonio was too boring for the finals so they made sure his mavs won.

how quickly does he forget how much slack they usually get :D

I also like Cuban and his team being screwed. However, that does not hide the fact that this is a rigged league and David Stern is the Al Capone of a gangster league.

I will quit watching NBA after Yao & TMac retire. There is really nothing to be cheered on for this particular sports in this particular country.

seriously...how in the world do you mean that it's rigged? was it rigged when dallas got their ass handed to them in game 4? was it rigged in games 1 and 2 when dallas won big?

was it rigged when howard called the TO? how about when Dirk missed that free throw? did they install some sort of mechanism to make sure all of wade's shots fell there at the end??

    the claim is utterly ridiculous.

Take away the star treatment. Fire David Stern, Stu Jackson and all the NBA referees. Play the game using the international rules and use international referees.

Now let's ball and I won't complain any more.

star treatment i understand. i understand how you'd complain about that.

but that's a far cry from saying the game is rigged. when you say rigged it creates the mindset that the outcome is pre-determined. chicago black sox/1919 stuff. that's rigged.

calling a game consistently favoring its superstars for 30+ years isn't "rigged."

Wow, what a stunning refute to MadMax's arguments. I'm now a convert - the league must be rigged!

And we fans want is a fairly called game. You did not address the question that the calls are getting more and more biased toward one team during these final games (it does not matter whether the officiating favors Mav, Heat, or Spurs, or Suns in certain games). You don't want a 8-5 game in the league final and that's exactly what we get this year.

It's always an issue with this league but it's getting much much worse on a yearly basis.
