I understand Cuban's whole m.o. about setting an example for the fans, being rabid and vocal and what not. But I believe he has to set an example for the team itself by being professional. Its a fine line he walks. I personally like his enthusiasm, and agree with others that if he owned our team, we would probably love him just like the Mavs fans do.
I guess people are blinded by their own teams. Last year, wasn't it the same Dallas fans that were jabbing at us for saying the league was rigged and that those fouls Dirk and Dallas got, and all the calls included, were BS? I guess when calls go your way, you turn a blind face and chuckle that you got away with one....
it was NOT a backcourt violation, the correct non-call was made. For an in-bounds play under 2:00 a player doesn't have an established position until he has the ball. Wade did not have the ball in an established position until he landed in backcourt with the ball. The only way that call would have been a violation is if he caught the ball while his foot was still in the front court and landed in the backcourt, but with this case the only contact his feet made while in possesion of the ball was in the backcourt, which is legal.
At the end its all about putting the ball inside the hoop and at the end of the games No one in the Dallas Lineup wants to take that responsibility. And were seeing in the miami lineup guys like Wade, Payton and Shaq no hesitating to take game winning shots!!! Thats the difference. NOTE: * I also beleive that Pat Riley is showing why hes such a great coach from the first two games we all thought that Miami could not gaurd the Maverick shooters but he changed things quite a bit.
WE should make a poll to ask if you were a Millionare would you pay 1 million of your money to get to fight Mark Cuban 1 on 1 in a ring?? forget the ring looking at the previous pic again in an Octagon no gloves!!!
Before Stack recieved the suspension you didnt hear Shaq complaining or even trying to suggest Stack be suspended. He was overly proffesional throughout and even made it seem like suspending Stackhouse would jeapordize the intergrity of the series. You know if a Heat player pummeled Nowitzki the entire Dallas front office would be up in arms making as big a deal of it as possible. Van Gundy's comments last year didnt bother me, I felt the same way. Its a different case, of course I have a bias but I am being as reasonable as possible. Like I said I understand the Mavs mentality, I cant blame them for trying. But like I said its starting to seem embarrassing, unprofessional, and even pathetic.
But why? His team likes him. His fans like him. The networks get another personality that adds interest. Who's getting hurt by his actions? Who really cares if he's "professional"?
If Cuban wants to act like an ass, it's our right to call him an ass. He can act however he wants. Don't get me started on Gavery
no one is saying they're hurt. i haven't received any phone calls from any one threatening to sue him this morning because they were damaged by him. but this is all part of why you don't like a player/team/whatever. i wasn't hurt by karl malone...but it sure made me not like him. i'm not hurt by jerry jones...but i think he's an arrogant ass and it pains me to see him win anything.
Oh I understand the arrogance aspect of it. I guess my question is why is it bad that he openly roots for him and wears mavs jerseys and acts like a fan and all that stuff. The stuff that people say is unprofessional.
The whole time all I could think to myself is, even if they were phantom calls, this playoff run, the Mavs have lived by them. That's right, they live and die by the phantom call...
I do. I was extremely pissed at Mike James for getting ejected in Game 7 last year. The various antics of Ron Artest truly angers me. And yes, Cuban does, as well. I believe that it is important to look at the "degree" to which someone goes in their quest for favoritism. Van Gundy made one comment to the press about the officiating; with Cuban, it's a everyday, all year diatribe. And I'm probably one of the few that feels the refereeing is not that bad- or at least when it's bad (as in too many fouls being called), it's called fairly evenly. My son had a Little League coach this year who was always arguing with the umpires (I mean, excessively), and some of us parents had to sit him down and say, "Stop embarrassing us!" To his credit, he admitted his "overdoing it" and learned to communicate better with the umpires. And surprise, a few more calls went our way! And the team played better. When my own son, a Grizzlies fan who could care less either way about who wins this year, and who didn't fully recognize Cuban before last night, said to me, "Why are they letting that fan yell at the referees? Is he drunk? Can't they arrest him for that?" I had to explain that he was the owner. Nuff said.
Its not that he roots for his team and is at every game. Its incessive whining and complaining that seems to go on after every game. How many times has he been fined for making ridiculous comments to the league? His antics go over the top IMHO and his whining, whoa is me attitude is not helping the Mavericks in this series. Instead of owning up to the shortcomings they are wanting everyone to have a pitty party for them. I predict the Heat will win this series because they have more heart and Pat Riley makes the players own up to their play on the court instead of playing the blame game. GO HEAT!!!
Everybody whines but not the way Mavs do it. It gets to every1's skin. Too bad for the league to have an NBA champion that flops too much, complains a lot, and too dumb for calling the last time out before a second free-throw.
I, for one, am happy to be a part of a fan base that never ever ever ever whines about officiating. At least in this part of the season.
I wish Mav could play like a man next two games. It wasnt the calls that they lost 3 games. They missed critical free throws, and had no answer to D.Wade. Dirk didnt play well either. Calls go either way and even out eventually. Game are played 48 minutes not just last 30 seconds. Yeah, Dallas was robbed, and I am loving it.
This could end up back firing. What if Cuban kicked your a$$? It would be almost like fighting a girl. A no win situation!
