i had winky winning that last round. the commentators kept talking about winky being defensive, but taylor wasn't on the attack.

the draw doesn't surprise me at all. it was a good fight and neither fighter established himself over the other. the fact that it was a draw in taylor's "home advantage" speaks volumes for winky, i think.

this was the first time i let me older son stay up to watch a fight with me. lots of fun! :)

Well, I just got home from watching this with a partisan crowd at Buffalo Wild Wings, and I think it was indeed a draw. I thought Taylor established himself well in the middle rounds and I'm suprised that he didn't dominate Wright late. Wright was an excellent tactical fighter, while I feel like Taylor was the better puncher tonight. Had Taylor not allowed Wright to tactically dominate the fight (Wright kept getting him in the corner, where he was stronger), Taylor would have picked up an easy victory, IMO. It's too bad that Winky says he doesn't want a rematch considering how fun this was to watch. I believe it was the most entertaining and clean fight that I have watched. Both guys seemed to be class acts, and considering Jermain Taylor used to come watch a fraternity sponsored toughman-esque boxing event at my undergrad every year, I love him. One year I actually stood behind him and his wife while he watched the fight. It's amazing that just 3 years ago he could go, without bodyguards, to a college boxing event and not be mobbed by fans. Now he's the world champ.

I seriously think Winky was robbed, how they gave the 12th round to Taylor is beyond me. He landed more punches and was more accurate. Robbery!

Great fight overall. It looked as if JT held back in the 10th or 11th (can't remember which round) at one point. Anyone else notice this? He had Winky going back and then just let up.

I am from Arkansas and I was rooting for JT the entire fight, but in all honesty I think Winky beat him.

By the way, two fights broke out in the crowd in the early rounds. One was ringside and one was by the scaffolding that the HBO commentators were on. Did they mention or show these on HBO?

i saw the crowd rise up and look in a certain direction.

on tv, it looked like they were looking towards the right side of the screen.

i think some of the roudns you had to score even. at least 3 rounds both winky and taylor had great rounds. the fight was neck and neck all the way, it couldve gone either way. i think a draw was the best decision. i cant wait to see it again (hopefully not on ppv but i doubt it  )

Great fight, this one actually lived up to the hype. I'm ok with it ending in a draw. I wouldn't have been surprised if Winky won it, because I think he did look a little better tonight, but Taylor was the champ. Winky needed to go in and take the title. He had the opportunity to do that in the last round but didn't really show anything. I really hope they rematch, and I would gladly pay for it next time.

I didn't see anything on HBO about the crowd scuffles. They did the right thing by keeping the focus on the ring, had they cut from the ring and something spectacular happened I would've been almost as pissed as the O.J. thing.

    An extremely entertaining fight.

Two different fights in one....Taylor winning when the action was in the middle of the ring, and Winky winning it when the action was in the corner.

I had Winky winning it, and I do believe Taylor got some home cookin', but you can argue it either way. It was a very close fight and I am not surprised it ended in a draw.

That being said, you can bet your bottom dollar that the rematch will be Pay Per View.

Ok...I watched the replay. In the 2nd round you can see the ringside crowd looking to their right. That was because about 5 police officers and security guards were running behind them in that direction towards the fight.

I didn't know Taylor's eye was closed due to a head butt or two. Now knowing that, I think he won the fight. He had one eye the last two rounds and still took it to Winky. I still don't know why he kept letting Winky back him in the corner. Great fight, but I seriously doubt there will be a rematch due to the words that were exchanged after the fight.
