Shouldn't have called off those other workouts! I bet this has little or no impact on his draft status. He's got one bump on an otherwise spotless record. That being said, I hope we do the Orland deal and can get him with the 15th pick....
I posted this in another thread (the now apparently infamous "Rockets Tuned In To Redick Thread") so I will just re-post it here: It's well known that Redick is a frat party boy. He's admitted himself that he binge drank almost daily throughout high school and his freshman and sophmore years. He also got busted for pot his freshman year, and apparently was busted for pot during the NCAA's this year, but charges were dropped. This is NOTHING new, it's just that now he doesn't have Duke to cover it up and get charges dropped. That being said I STILL hope the Rockets draft Redick. I really believe they are makiing a big mistake if they don't take him. BTW, our own Bob Sura and T-Mac are notorious as hard partiers as well, so I think some people have to be a little less innocent on the behavior of star athletes. Redick has always been labeled another Kobe for his bratish attitude towards opposition fans, but that's something the Rockets NEED. This team desperately needs players with attitude, we saw what Sura gave this team. The centerpiece of the team, the franchise player, and the man that will decide what the team does every year (Yao) is almost too nice as it relates to on the court, the team needs these players with an edge, not another non-chalant Rodney Carney type.
That's total BS. Some Eastern COnference GM is trying to hurt REddick's stock so that he falls to their team.
What's most troubling and indicative of his character is that he actually made an illegal U-turn trying to evade a police checkpoint
yeah he's supposed to just ride into the checkpoint. better yet, why doesn't he just call the 911 and say "hey, I'm driving intoxicated". I just find that part of the story kind of funny, it actually tells me he may have not been that drunk.
Eh. No question he made a big mistake, but just because you get a DWI, that doesn't mean you have a drinking problem. If we're just talking about a mistake here, and not a problem, then I'd still draft him. I mean, Rudy T got a DWI, and all he did was win 2 championships.
Doesn't he know that making a u-turn before a police checkpoint is a huge red flag that is sure to get you pulled over? It's not like they don't watch for u-turners.
sure, I guess my response is that making a u-turn doesn't say anything about his character. I guess if he would have just gone through the checkpoint there is a chance nothing will have happened.
