It does not sound good for his playing future, the key word was severely when they were talking about both knees, good luck Big Ben.

    severely injured both knees

The facial injuries can be healed

severely injured both knees...does that mean acl/ligaments?

Thankfully he's alive, but I doubt he'll ever be able to play again at a high-level.

don't people ever learn? motorcycles (especially w/o helmets) are rolling coffins with the nails half-way hammered in

anwyays...good luck Ben..hope you come back

so does this mean Pittsburg can just cut him and he'd never see another penny from them again?

    Baseball/Basketball contracts FTW!

I would be way more afraid of the head injury than the knee injuries. Just on the sketchy info so far, I wouldn't be surprised if the docs end up recommending that he not play anymore because of the possibility of getting his head slammed to the turf. Even with your head in a football helmet it can be damn jarring. If you've had that kind of trauma, routine hits might lead to something more serious. Put me in the not-so-optimistic camp.

Taking the other side of the coin for a second ... why would anyone think David Carr is available now? The Texans made their choice, taking the extension and passing on Vince Young ... who would QB now if they traded away Carr?

I wouldn't take any of this seriously. The Steelers still have Charlie Batch and they believe they can turn newly drafted Omar Jacobs into a solid back up.

Because Clutch, Brady Quinn is the quarterback Kubiak really wants and getting rid of Carr after this year's draft gets all the Vince Young lovebirds to not raise a stink when Young was on the board. As far as the extension goes, it's not Kubiak's money.

This response is total tongue in cheek. I have no idea. But if the Texans land the first overall pick next year, I expect them to look long and hard at Quinn. They have given Carr a lot to work with this year.

all i know is the texan's #1 pick next year better be adrian peterson. something tells me we'll be picking that high and AP is an absolute man-child.

    I'll bet we won't have a Top 5 pick.

If the Texans were interested in selecting a RB that high they would have picked Bush. One of the reason's Kubiak gave McNair for passing on Bush was that he can find runningbacks in the later rounds.

Well if we would of drafted......nevermind Carr is staying but just think about having a YOUNG man in here behind him that would make Carr worth a number 1 to a desperate team.

Like the Real Shady posted, I don't think we'll take Adrian Peterson after passing on Reggie Bush. Kubiak's system just doesn't require a stud RB. However, Peterson's style is better suited for Kub's system versus Bush.

With that said, I don't think Peterson will be a good pick. Trying not to sound like a UT-homer, but AP missed a lot of games last season and I haven't heard anything that he is fully healthy again. His injury last season alone should raise some red flags. Also, AP had the luxury of having the best OL with an unbelievable passing game. Even when he did play this season, he wasn't nearly as good w/o the stellar OL and w/o Jason White's passing attack.

IF the Texans are picking #1 again next season, I have a feeling it will be a QB since Carr will be the last constant factor of the team.

His knees have minor injuries, not major injuries, as initially reported.

What did Culpepper, a Pro Bowl QB, get traded for again?

    Oh yeah....a second rounder.

No one was ever going to give up a #1 for Carr.

I'd trade Carr to Pitt..but it would have to be a 3 way deal with the Titans...... Chance, make it happen.

Also I think The Texans would draft Adrian Peterson . The Reggie deal was a lot about Reggie and not signing the contract but mostly about balancing the offseason upgrades since most of the free agent money was spent on the offense: and about Mario's ability to influence the game in a division with Peyton Manning.

The McNair trade was purley an contact imbalance issue. They just could not afford his contracted salary.
