I was curious to knowing if anybody had an update on Bob Sura. Some people say they met him and he's coming back...... some say he's not. What's his status and hows his rehab going anybody know?
Don't know, but no matter what he says, or the doctors say, he's not a guy we can count on as being a steady contributor. More likely than not, he won't play a full season if he comes back.
From what Carroll Dawson and JVG said recently in some radio interviews he was supposed to start playing full contact again on June 1st. VG seemed to indicate they would see how his knee responded to that, while Dawson seemed to indicate the doctors think he will be ready for next year. Usually takes 8-18 months to recover from microfracture surgery, so Sura would be at 8 months just about now, which is why he would start full contact practice at this point. So the next 4 months until training camp will be very hard physically on him, but that would be required for his rehab. So basically if he doesn't get anymore injuries he is playing next year. But of course he's been injury plagues his whole career and he's getting older and it seems to be more common for him.
From what Ive heard and read hes feelin good and looks forward to the upcoming season, but from what Ive heard on Clutch is that hes a shade of his former self and will never play again. My guess would be hes probably in the middle hes feelin good but will never play great ball again.
The last year in an expiring contact should be used as part of our trade statergy. Its too far along in Bob's career to expect that he is part of the Rox future. Why waste a year when we need him gone , enabling our rebuilding program to get a head start. Sura, Wesley, Swift, Bowan, Howard, Mutombo are all expendable to help us build our Championship Contenders.
Bobby will play next year and will contribute per his friends. He will not be able to sign another contract because he will never pass another physical. He is pain daily. The guy feels pain walking.(Basically no cartilage in his knee, bone on bone at this point.)
I'm sure his heart is willing. The body... I'm not so sure about. Of course I am just talking out my a** and don't really have any information to go on other just what it seems like. I would love to have a healthy Sura on the team and able to contribute. It would help the teams mental toughness which could make a huge difference.
Nov 1-2004 Surgery right knee Inflammed scar tissue around vertebrae Sore back Back surgery out 45 days Herniated disk, out indefinitely nov 2005 Whats next? Eyes fracture, back spasms, torn acl ? I got $50 on ankle twist
It could be my mistake but I thought that Sura only had one more year left on his Contract. Would someone in the know please let us know about Sura's Contract. He is over 33years of age.
the microfracture is supposed to fix the cartilage problem. I am currently under the pain of microfracture and its very annoying. however I am only 4 months post op.
HAHAHAHA! Gotta love Chinese people trying to type in English. It kinda makes you wonder how he found this site AND registered AND created a new thread in the right forum if his English was so bad.
No he has two more years left on his deal. He was signed for 4 years and something around $14.7 million if I remember correctly.
