So all of a sudden my monitor decided to start having a shaky screen. I'm not sure why it started, but you can tell its shaking back in forth. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Specs:
    Windows XP Home
    1GB Ram
    17" CTX Monitor
    ATI Radeon Graphics card

    Any help is greatly appreciated

Do you have access to a second monitor? If not see if you can borrow one from a friend and test it out. If it still shakes it is most likely a video card problem. if it stops then your monitor may be going out. Does it still shake when you unhook it from the computer. if not see if there are any monitor settings you can adust that will help fix it. If you can't fix it and it isn't the video card, then most likely you'l have to get a new monitor. There are very few people that fix monitors.

Hooked up a friends monitor to my computer and it did the same thing. Must be a video card problem. I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 9600, anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

There isn't any other sort of electronic device that you might have just put next to the monitor? I have seen monitors pickup interference from the electronic signatures of other devices if they are all packed tightly together in one area.

Have rebooted many times, we were having problems with the cable connection, but we had people come out and fix it Tuesday. Although they did say the main box on the pole outside that feeds the internet to everyone in my area, was messed up, so they were having dudes come and check that out today or tommorow. I'll try new video card drivers, but I dont know...computer is fairly new. Do you recommend where I can d-load the drivers?

I have an AC unit but its not right next to it, just in the window near it. I have speakers setup right next to the tower and monitor. I also have a sub-woofer below my desk and a desk lamp next to my monitor. I dont know if any of these would affect it or not?

I'm curious, how does the cable connection cause something like this? Granted I'm not a PC tech, just curious

If the computer is fairly new, is it still under warranty? Maybe you could call the manufacturers tech support and see if they will replace the broken part, provided you narrow down what is wrong.

Well, the house is getting worked on, and there working on it now. I noticed when the people would turn their power saw on, the screen shaked more, and once they stopped it went back to its normal shakiness. Maybe its just a power problem? They might have stuff plugged in the outlets and its causing this? I'll just wait it out and when they're done maybe it will fix itself.

If it's not a LCD, degaussing will solve that problem.

both of the last two may help. Try removing the subwoofer. unplug it and move it away from the monitor. Secodn try Deguassing throughthe monitor settings screen. If you don't know it will be a picture of a horseshoe type magnet. Download drivers from the manufacturer. they'll have the most updated version.

These didn't work, umm, like i said hopefully its just a power problem. It just started doing this a few days ago. Hopefully when the people are done with the siding and such it returns to normalcy.

Sounds like the outlet could be picking up noise. Perhaps a bad ground. It could still be component related though. A bad capacitor could cause it. Check the manufacture for known issues.
