I think Stockton was a far better player than Isiah Thomas. His teams were more successful in the 90s, and he put up superior numbers: Code: player years g mpg pts/40 TS% ast/40 reb/40 stl/40 to/40 GS/40 Isiah 90-94 344 35.6 19.5 49.8% 9.3 3.6 1.7 4.1 14.5 Stock 90-94 406 36.6 17.6 59.9% 14.7 3.3 2.9 3.7 20.7 Stock 90-99 766 35.0 17.1 61.4% 13.7 3.3 2.6 3.6 19.8 Below shows individual wins/losses (PW, PL) which are derived from the players individual offensive and defensive rating (points scored/allowed per 100 possessions). The defensive rating is based on team defensive performance (points allowed per 100 possessions) and individual stats (ie. def. rebounds, steals, blocks) and is very much a rough estimate while offensive rating is fairly accurate. Also shown is the team's win/loss record (W, L) in the games the players played: Code: player years g PW-PL PW% W-L W% Isiah 90-94 344 20.7-36.5 36.2% 188-156 54.6% Stock 90-94 406 58.8-8.4 87.5% 262-144 64.5% Stock 90-99 766 104.8-13.3 88.7% 529-273 69.1%
No, not saying that. I just remember Payton being a badass on defense for a long time, was at his absolute peak as a player, was destroying Stockton, and then just plummeted (on defense) almost overnight after that one series w/Chicago. The Glove became one of those fingerless gloves with holes in them thatt bikers wear in the blink of an eye.
Sorry, I'd still take Isiah over Stockton. Do you think Detroit would have won back to back with Stockton instead of Isaiah? i don't think so. There's a reason why Stockton was great in the regular season but he and Malone never good enough to win it all.
who would you give to for this current decade....i know its not over!!!! I dont think nash is the consenus due to him only having 2 good seasons and is starting to have injuries further more defense is a joke. right now its kidd vs nash....wow the nba is weak right now!!!
90's Stockton Jordan Barkley Olajuwon O'Neal I play Dream out of position at the four so I can have Shaq instead of Karl Malone, since Shaq is clearly better. Dream has the range and quicks to play the four.
Would Detroit have won back to back with Stockton? Who knows. If you put Thomas on the Jazz, would they have won any championships? Would they have won any where close to the number of playoff games the Jazz won with Stockton? Between 1992 and 1998, Stockton's Jazz reached the Conference Finals 5 out of the 7 years. They reached NBA Finals twice, losing to Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls. In 19 years, Stockton never missed the playoffs. The Pistons peak years, as a team, were between 1987 and 1991. In those five years, they reached the conference finals every year, and they got to the NBA Finals three years -- winning twice, against the Lakers and the Blazers. Outside of those years, Thomas got past the first round only once. He missed the playoffs altogether 4 times (at the beginning and end of his career). If you want to compare the two player's entire careers, maybe you can make an argument for Thomas over Stockton (though Stockton's numbers individually were much better and his teams won more games, on average). But in the 1990s, there's no good reason for ranking Thomas ahead of Stockton. He only had three decent years in that decade.
Were there people that really put Pippen on their greatest decade teams. Pippen was extremely glorified because of Jordan. Pippen goes no where without MJ.
quitten finished 2nd in the mvp voting the one year jordan left. granted, i'm not sure he completely deserved it but he was still top 5 material (his numbers were really nice, especially the steals, but not exactly eye-popping or anything). jordan played 3 years w/o quitten and went 1-9 in the playoffs and had 3 first round exits. the one year quitten played w/o mj he got to the 2nd round. not that quitten is even close to jordan, but all this stuff about him not being anything w/o jordan is stupid.
