I saw them in Dallas two nights ago. But Miri Ben-Ari, the hip-hop violinist, was on the bill not Talib. The Roots put on an awesome show like always. For an added bonus Eryka Badu came out and sang "You Got Me" with them and then hung out on stage for almost the last hour. The Roots are hands down the best live hip-hop show you can see. And the best $15 show you can see.
I saw the Roots with Wilco at Red Rocks last summer. They put on a GREAT show. Is Vernon Reid still playing guitar with them?
Just ordered my tix a few hours ago at groovetickets.com. use coupon code hou603 to get a $5 "smokers" discount and pick up tix at will call. courtesy of a kool ad i saw in houston press.
Oh man. Why do they have to play so far out? The Roots came with Common a couple of years ago to Hush also.
That had to be the best $12 I've ever spent. As always, The Roots put on a crazy show full of instrumental solos, old tracks, new ones, etc. They performed for an hour, took a 30 minute break, and gave us another hour. Kweli performed in that 30 minute window and did not disappoint. I was surprised at the number of hip-hop heads in Houston. Good ****.
It was definitely a great show. Blackalicious was awesome. The only problem I had was getting to the bar and back, but that was about it. Oh, and the Nazi security.
funny, i was listening to the roots this morning as i got ready for work... and $15??? you'd be a fool not to go, they're too damn good. i'd love to catch them sometime. glad yall enjoyed it.
