What's the difference? It's all lies. "At a triumphant gathering of veterans in Fort Worth after the election, Mr. O'Neill was introduced as the man who "torpedoed" Mr. Kerry's campaign; the Swift boat group spent more than $130,000 for a "Mission Accomplished" celebration at Disney World. The president's brother, Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida, sent a letter thanking the "Swifties" for "their willingness to stand up to John Kerry." Even people within the Kerry campaign believed that the attacks had cost their candidate the presidency." Link
This says a lot about the political philosophies of the two parties: the Dems want as many people as possible to vote, the Repubs want to limit the number of people who vote.
Don't give Democrats that much credit for taking the higher road. The Democrats would behave like Republicans if they had to.
I think the Republicans are right on this one. Voters are stupid. It is now political suicide to: 1. raise taxes 2. cut defense spending 3. cut any spending Someone on this board game me the exact quote once. But some person named Alexander Tyler once mentioned that democracies can't work because the voters will learn how to vote the public treasury dry. I once thought the GOP was brave enough to make some bold, unpopular moves and actually reduce spending. The Democratic Party was once brave enough to cut defense spending and raise taxes. Now both parties appeal to the electorate - who want the best of both worlds. Maybe I'm just a troll.
I was more surprised by Kerry's seeming non-chalance through the beginning of that whole episode. It seemed to me that some of his campaign advisors probably (and wrongly) convinced him to avoid addressing the issue directly - to appear "above it". I think I read somewhere that Kerry, inside, was seething the whole time. Personally - an public, angry, and strong rebuttal of the swift boat allegations by Kerry would have made me think of him more highly of him.
John Kerry's valor in the Vietnam War along with his moral conscience that was fully displayed in his 1971 speech in Congress, "How Do You Ask a Man to Be the Last Man to Die in Vietnam", was more than enough to convince me he was the candidate 10x better than the frat boy GWB.
I like you No Worries, but this is crap. If you've read the article you know how one-sided this fraud perpetrated against the American people and democracy itself was. Both parties are populated and led by power-hungry, oft corrupt people, I agree, but to suggest that Democrats would employ these many and varied outrageous, treasonous tactics to steal an election, when there is no evidence whatsoever that that happened, is utter crap.
I'm black, follow politics, both my parents were Democrats (I would be if I actually voted) and even I don't care. I'm wondering if even tens of thousands of us, in any given precinct or county, actually go and vote. Granted, I am generally opposed to the anti-felon voting laws because it's basically class exclusion.
