Is Sun Yue (the Chinese Boris Diaw or whatever) available for this year's draft?

why do we need a short center from China when there is a bunch in NBA already?
the center position should not be a concern for the next 8 years or so

Sun Yue is a 6'9" PG from China as far as I know. He will probably play SG or SF in the NBA if he ever has a chance to play.

And Boris Diaw can play 5 positions btw.

Umm... who said anything about the Rockets?

All I am asking is whether he's entering the draft this year.

If he is Chinese, he automatically needs to play for the Rockets.

Sun Yue is in fact on the Early Entry list this year.

    http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1285

It's completely due to a technicality (I doubt he wanted to enter the draft at all) for the fact that his chinese team played in the ABA this year, but he's in the draft and that's all there is to it. The NBA might let him withdraw, but if they put him in on the technicality in the first place, they'll probably just leave him in.

I've seen enough of him to know that he's definitely worth a workout. Well actually I think he has terrific b-ball instincts on both ends of the court, and will no doubt be a rotation player in the NBA (if not potentially a borderline all star), but no need to sell him that far.

I suspect that Thib or another one of the coaches will follow Yao over to china and check Sun out. And it's possible that he'll be worth our 2nd round selection.

That's why it's in this forum, not GARM. I mean, what's up with this Sinophobia when it comes to the NBA draft talks. I had no intention in talking about the Rockets at all in this thread. I am interested in this prospect, and that's it.

whoops sorry..... guess i should do a little research first
no i am not sinophobic. i love yao more than anyone else in the rockets :p
since u put boris diaw in there, i assume that u are saying that sun yue is a short center

i am just curious, why would u compare a starting center to a PG (yes i know now that Boris can play 5 positions) ? :)

IMO, a starting player should not be a combo player but a specialist at its position unless that player is a superstar. example --> PG should be distributing the ball 1st, not hogging the ball for 23 and 9/10 of a second before bricking a shot

That might be the case 10 or 20 years ago... Basketball is evolving.

BTW Boris Diaw playing the 5 doesn't really make him a center, he's more like a point forward...
