[Chron] Justice being stupid again..

Have ya'll read his blog? You think his articles are brutal...

 

Because I'm a masochist, I went and read his latest entries. This had me rolling when writing about Casserly sticking around Texans' mini-camp:

The self-loathing that guy must go through.

 

In some ways, it's a lot like a writer for Rolling Stone. "I strolled into the hotel room at 5am only to find the band passed out with whiskey bottles around them, so I decided to watch Cartoon Network until they woke up. This could take a while." That is the kind of stuff you see in the opening line of so many RS articles. Who cares what you are doing???

And, this isn't a column about sports. It's a column about Richard Justice that just happens to involve sports. I don't want to read about him. Let him write his memoirs and hock them at Barnes & Noble.

You know, I don't have a problem with the little converstations, if it relates to the story and if it is true. If those two criteria are satisfied I think it adds another dimension to the article. Otherwise it's just pointless drivel.

 

i think justice along with a lot of other writers toe a fine line between a "different" and "unique" style of writing and just flat out crap.

this article was crap. i'm writer right now in college for the student paper. i'm not pretending i know a lot about the industry but i do know you are there to report on SPORTS! not your meaningless conversation with phil garner about an article you wrote on a .200 hitter that isn't newsworthy to begin with.

note to justice, you are there to cover the ASTROS, not yourself.
