I don't think I'd trade T-Mac, but under that scenario I would demand Pierce, Green and their #7 for T-Mac. Then JVG can choose among Rudy Gay, Brandon Roy, Marcus Williams, Patrick O'Bryant, Cedric Simmons et al. If tossing in the #7 is too much, we should at least swap #8 for #7. And that, friends, makes me a member of the 3,000 post club. Back to my nap.
I disagree about Peirce being able to work effectively with Yao and Tracy. I think he'd feel like he's died and gone to heaven, with the space he'd have to make shots, and drive the lane. It'd be awesome to add him to the Rocks. I just don't see why Boston does it, or how we're able to come up with a suitable deal.
Didn't Green spend some time in the developmental league this year?? Anyway I say yes if we can get him...We could use some athleticism on the roster!!
Ainge was doing backflips last year on draft day when Green fell to their spot. He's only 20-years-old, has all the upside in the world and looked great once they finally gave him some minutes. He's been in the system for a year now, where is the motivation for the Celts to trade him? I would do this deal in a heart beat, but that doesn't mean the Celtics would.
Paul Peirce is a stud swingman in the prime of his career who just came off of the best season of his his career posting up 27ppg 7rebs and 5apg. Asking him to come to houston so he can play off of MacGrady and Ming would be like asking Tmac to come the Lakers after the 02-03 season and be the 3rd wheel behind Kobe and Shaq... ...sure he would love to win but not like that. Winng a championship is the goal for players but being pushed back to the 3rd option to do so when you have the talent and skill to be a lead player (1st or 2nd option) on a championship team isn't something players would go for and I dont blame them. Thats disrespectful
Disrespectful? Seems to me that at this point in their careers, Tracy and Pierce just want to win. Now I don't see any way that we could trade for Pierce without giving up Yao or T-mac, but just thinking rhetorically, I don't see why they can't make it work. If they had a chance to be on a great, great team, I think these guys would be willing to check their ego at the door. Especially if they've gone through a lot of losing in the past.
Pierce is not coming here. But if he were to somehow end up here next to McGrady and Yao, I doubt either he or rox management would expect him to play third fiddle. If anything, they'd try to set up a trifecta of terror: Tmac an Pierce on opposite sides of the court with Yao down low. Ditch Alston for a 3pt ace and sit him at the top of the arc. Go ahead and try to double team someone.
If we could trade our #8 pick for Gerald Green, I would do it in a second, but not so sure if the Celtics would like to do that. Then throw in Sura or Rybo and maybe the Celtics would accept it. JVG said every team wishes they had someone like Rybo. =D
exactly kids on here think that there havent been other teams out there before with 3 superstar players. you know what usually happens when you have 3 legit stars in the prime of there careers............. they usually win a lot of games. MJ, Pippen, Rodman James worthy, Kareem, Magic Bird, Robert Parish, kevin McHale etc... yeah pierce would hate to win 60 games a year, and stop being in the lottery or being bounced in the 2nd round in the past in a weak eastern confrence. he would just hate it.............................................
Jeez, I thought I was going crazy. Yao, T Mac, and Pierce would be stellar and would probably add 2 more prime years to T Mac. Run the offense through Yao and it is pure gold. You could pencil in 60+ wins, have insurance vs. Another T Mac injury, and would be instant contenders. All three are willing passers and elite shooters for their positions. Think Lakers with Rice except Pierce is better and younger. Get a defensive PG and a specialist at PF(rebounder, shotblocker, or shooter) and fill in with scraps and vets. Imagine a boxscore with three players over 30 points in 1 game. Imagine teams trying to defend those three in close games. No team has two great wing defenders AND a great post defender. Add Novak or Pittsnoggle with your 2nd rounder at PF. Sign Mike James with the MLE and trade Stromile Swift to Indy for that Euro PG. #8, Howard, Head,Sura, 2007 #1 protected pick, trade exception for Pierce, Scalabrine PG Mike James, Sasha SG Pierce, Wesley(resigned cheap) SF T Mac, Bogans, Scalabrine(must take with trade exception) PF Padgett(vet min), Novak, Clancy C Yao, Deke, Hayes
Yes he did. I'm inclined to think that's part of the reason why he was actually somewhat competent when the Celtics called him back up.
yea, theres a good chance he would hate it and your examples are terrible. 1st, Pippens game complimented Jordans in every way. Since Scottie was not an elite scorer it allowed him to be on the ball and allowed Jordan do what he does best...score. Rodman wasn't an option on offense so their games meshed. 2nd, Magic was a PG who scored when needed, Kareem was past his prime so having Worthy was needed. 3rd, Parish was not elite scorer and by chance McHale didnt care enough to come off the bench so thats how it worked in boston. For Yao, Pierce and McGrady to work there's gonna have to be some huge sacrfices. Yea, the Lakers in 99-00 season had Shaq, Kobe and Rice but even that didn't run smoothly....Rice complained all season about his role and everyone knew he wasn't gonna come back the next season and that was a 21 year old kobe averaging 21ppg. Kobe was a slasher and Rice was a spot up shooter....Paul and Tracy are basically the same damn player....their games overlap like you wouldn't believe So until 1) Tracy's game errods to the point where he cant score at the same rate or handle 35+ minutes a game 2) Peirce's game falls down to Ginobili like level and 3) Rocket fans dont cry when Yao only takes 8 shots this won't work.
