Good enough to be on the team and collect paycheck? Yeah, maybe. Good enough to contribute? Highly unlikely.

    Hell yea...

    even if it was preseason.

Sura was the testicles of that team squad...

I still think if we can have him on our roster(given he is healthy enough to contribute on the court) we can utilize him in certain situations...

He would have to understand his role for this to work.

Bobby aint done.. he will be back and everybody will see what he has left.. the dude is a warrior... besides T's and Yao's injuries, Bobby's was one of the main reasons we sucked this year.. remeber 04-05 ? we sucked so bad before he came back, and we turned it around .... Cant wait to see Sura playing next year, and I get really pissed when people start giving ideas about a new starting PG without even mentioning Bobby.. everybody sounds like they forgot the dude.. he is still alive, he will be back...

With the exception of the superstars, the ability to remain in the NBA is fragile. Lose a half a step, and there is a young gazelle ready to take your place and you're out of a job.

    el puntastico!

seriously, sure he could make it another year or two at a fairly high level. but, the thinking is that other options are better options. sure he adds toughness, but to get into the playoffs and succeed in the west, you've got to have touch. sura doesn't possess a shooting or passing touch. if we were in the east, then maybe. at least imo.

if you're putting sura as a basketballer in Schilling's class as a baseballer, you're looking pretty stupid.

i'm not being hostile to bob sura, reread my post, I said I liked the signing. but people are overrating him. he is a 8-3-3 player for his career. on bad teams. argue with the numbers

Yeah its a shame we didn't have him in the mid 90's. Pasty/Malone would have been slammed for sure.

Certainly Schilling's impact was and is much more than Sura's ever was or will be. I'm just not a huge proponent of booing or treating a player negatively, when their only crime was getting injured, especially when that player sacrificed a great deal to help their team the previous year. Not being a Red Sox fan, I felt the treatment of Schilling was pretty disgraceful, since it was clear he was not recovered from the whole "sutures" thing.

Maybe because some of the loudest members of the board have been rather pessimistic about management, drafting history, the coaching situation and such that I subconsciously transferred the negative attitude to my favorite role player from last year. Even if he isn't truly worthy of such praise based on his career or his season last year, it never hurts to have some optimism and reflect on good memories rather than worry that we're going to be drafting a bust, signing the next Juwan Howard, and making Jeff Van Gundy's hair fall out so fast it'll be like he's using depilatory cream for shampoo.

The only reason I quoted you (and not very well, I might add; I don't post on message boards often) was because I wanted to respond to the Sura shooting at his own basket thing, rather than any perceived hostility towards Bobby Sura in your post. The rest of my ideas were general in audience.

So no snappy little one liner to end my post here, because they're harder to write than they seem, since you don't get to clarify what you really mean, and even intelligent posters can misunderstand your point.

So there has been no actual reporting from anywhere on Sura's actual condition. I believe he is probably done, but how the hell would I really know?

Yep JayZ, I was trying find out something more than I already knew, but no one knows anything. They are all just speculating. (Educated guess, if you prefer)

OK take this for whatever you want.. if at all. I am sitting inside my house and I happen to noticed an unfamiliar, although really nice car parked near my house. I went on back to watching the game and then the phone rang. It was my cousin. He is friends with my neighbor who had the car parked out in front of his house. He says I will not believe who is across the street from my house at that very moment. So I am like who??? Bob Sura. Having dinner at my neighbors. So I realized whos car that was. My cousin said that my neighbor asked him about returning this year and Bob said that his back and his leg were still bothering him. He also said that it seemed doubtful that he would return.

I know. I know. Everyone is going to expect photos. Only had a disposable. I got a pic of his car though. Unfortunately I do not have a photo scanner.

I can tell you this. He has a SWEET ride!! I do not know what it was. Maybe a BMW. It was silver with some nice a$$ rims.

    Really nice a$$ rims.
