They play tonight at 6 CT on ESPN2. There's supposed to be a lot of changes to the line up from the last game to give other players some time.

And some bad news, Gibbs injured his knee and has been replaced by Berhalter on the WC roster.

NO EXCUSES, Estados Unidos. Please DO BETTER than against Morocco... :(
I can only watch the replay on Telemundo  at 10:35. :(

EDIT: I predict a 1-2 loss. Again, hungry youngsters against a deteriorated U.S. team.

So you gave in to AcesHigh, huh? :p

    This is nice:

I was really unimpressed with the play of the team against Morocco, they just did not seem to be on the same page.

You had some creative passes, but the chemistry on the receiving end was just not there, lots of throwing the ball into empty space and not having anyone make a run.

There were some glimmers though. Eddie Johnson looked great, and he should have put that header in, John O'brien has a great eye for plays, too bad most of the other players are not on the same page, and Landon Donavan is still a solid player in the middle or up front.

It looks like they just need time to get used to being teamates, but time is running out.

No, I always call it soccer. But I did think about putting futball just to see him get his panties in a bunch. :D

Sorry I have an off-topic question.

Can someone explain why Dallas traded Eddie Johnson to Kansas City? One year ago he was the brightest young star in the league and everyone was saying he would make it to the top-tier leagues in Europe one day. I don't think any NFL and NBA team would have traded an up and coming young superstar like that.

I don't really follow the MLS closely. Someone please fill me in.

They only had enough money for either Johnson or Ruiz, and with Johnson missing 2 months because of the World Cup and the possibility of him leaving for Europe afterwards they decided to sign Ruiz and let Johnson go.

Thank you for the explanation. I think that's exactly the problem of the MLS right now. In order for the league to become more respectable, they have to be able to keep the promising young players. Obviously they are not capable of doing that at this point.

Portuguese team offered $4 million for Dallas striker

The value of this guy will double/triple if he has a decent showing in the WC.

Personally, for the record, I think Cory Gibbs' injury isn't bad news for anyone besides Cory Gibbs.

Here's the starting XI, 4-4-2 with diamond midfield.

    Howard

    Albright
    Onyewu
    Conrad
    Bocanegra

    Dempsey
    Olsen
    Wolff
    Convey

    Johnson
    Ching

    A very young team.

I like the Johnson and Ching frontline. It combines speed, size and power. What it lacks is experience.

2-0 with goals from Ching and Dempsey.

Convey was brilliant and is really making a push to start over Beasley on the left side in Germany.

Convey was by far the best player on the field last night, seeing him take Beasley's starting job wouldn't surprise me at all.

EJ, Ching, and Dempsey also had good games. EJ was able to use his speed to cause problems for their defense and Ching did a great job of winning balls, he had a couple of chances that he should have done better with though. And Dempsey had kind of a quite game but I think that was mainly because we were attacking down the left with Convey most of the night, but when the time came he was in the right place at the right time and had a beautiful finish on his goal and when the ball was on the right he did well with it.

Albright looked pretty bad on defense, he may be good going forward and crossing the ball but he's too much of a liability on defense. The rest of our defense seemed to be ok, but I really didn't watch them too closely.

It'll be interesting to see what line up we end up using in Germany, if the defense can handle it I wouldn't mind seeing a 3-5-2 of:

    ----McBride-----Donovan-----
    --------------------------------
    Convey-----JOB----Dempsey
    ----Reyna-------Mastroeni---
    --------------------------------
    Lewis---Gooch---Cherundolo
    ------------Keller-------------

I'm not sure if there's enough defense though, but with Reyna and Mastroeni there could be. Otherwise I would think we would play a 4-4-2 with Pope in for Mastroeni.

i think in the next 10 years soccer is going to blow up in america. i think though that its important that america does well in the WC obviously. but i think its inevitable for the most part.
