Say no to Baggage, Hefty contract, and broke down body that relies solely on athleticism who is not big enough to cover any of the 4's in the western conference.
So... we're trading a stromile swift, luther head, and our first-round pick for an older stromile swift with a very bad attitude and a gimpy knee that has not healed. No thanks.
don't forget - in Alimoe's original idea, we ALSO were giving up A FUTURE 1st-rounder.. maybe that's still not enough...
its time we stop mortgaging our future and start getting our draft picks. I'm tired of the rockets trading away draft picks all the time. If we traded our pick, it would have to be to move up or in a deal that brought a legit star. In no way would Kmart fit those categories. Besides, Denver is so fed up with him there are rumors he might be bought out. Then we wouldn't have to give up so much for him.
I totally hear you man. The whole "online-speak" thing bothers the hell out of me. I have a friend who's a middle school English teacher, and she said she's gotten entire papers written in that kind of nonsense. If it were up to me, I'd fail those students on the spot and make them redo everything, but she's much more lenient...probably too lenient. In any case, Kenyon Martin? An absolutely killer contract, not much more talent than Swift, and consistently injured. He's one of two players I don't understand why so many people want to get. The other one's Jamal Crawford, another shot-jacking knuckleheaded 2-guard.
Well I'm in the pro-Jamal Crawford crowd. I don't think the term knuckleheaded really applies to him and as far as attitudes go, there is no comparison between him and K-Mart. Have you ever seen him play on a consistent basis? Yeah he's got a long term deal, but he's young, he's got size, he can shoot including 3 pointers, he can handle the ball and penetrate (good cross-over), and he's clutch (he has hit quite a few game winning shots for the Knicks, including one against the Rockets if I do remember correctly). However, his D isn't that great and he's not the strongest player in the world. But I do believe the positives outweight the negatives. He is a proven NBA player that can come and immediately contribute, he'll be an ex-Knick so I'm sure JVG will love him, and he'll fit in well with the Rockets. He could be the 2 guard/proven 3rd scorer we're looking for. The Knicks were trying hard to deal him before the trade deadline this past season since they have a lot of guards and he can still be had. Isiah might even do it for the lottery pick and J-Ho since they need so much help at the forward position. Juwan would become their 2nd best forward behind Channing Frye. I'd much rather take Crawford over JR Smith, but either would be a definite upgrade. I just don't think the draft is going to help that much.
If you're making a deal with Denver, I think for our needs you go for some combination of Nene/Camby and Andre Miller. You can probably assume they're not really happy with their team after their playoff showing and they could do a lot worse than Swift/Head and the #8. Remember the playoffs a couple years ago when Tim Thomas and Kenyon Martin were feuding, the whole "you're a fugazi" "no you are" thing? People were down on Thomas and up on Martin. Oh, what a difference a couple years makes. I'd rather have Kwame or Olowakandi than Martin at this point. Sad huh?
Yeah, I have seen him play on a consistent basis. I lived in New York for a few years before moving away very recently and I watched more Knicks games than I care to admit. Jamal Crawford is a classic example of a player that has above average talent, but a below average basketball IQ. He's hit a few game winners, but that doesn't make him clutch. Chuck up the ball enough at the end of games and a few are bound to go in. I can't count the number of times I've seen him throw up a 3-pointer with 15 seconds still left on the shot clock and open teammates under the basket. He's the very definition of "shot-jacker." The two years he played starters minutes for Chicago and New York, he took roughly seven 3-point attempts a game. This year, he's managed to cut back a bit, but his shot selection is still terrible from the many games I saw in the first half of the season. It's evident in his field goal percentage as well...hovering barely over 40% his entire career.
Martin is an above-average player. Too bad he's paid the max. Easy to look good when you play with J-Kidd.
Kmart is what Stro would be if he had heart and some extra beef on him. But seriously I dont care what JVG says Stro shouldve been starting all year.
