That's giving up an awful lot for a guy softer than Hostess. Not to mention that we'd be losing a ton of depth which we already lack.
Ron Artest and Bruce Bowen would like a word with you outside. As for Corey Maggette...everyone here will admit he is a quality player who has a large amount of assets to bring to the table. Would I like to have him around? Sure. But there's no cap room. As stated in the article, the possible trade would only occur with a team that has excess cap room. Last time I checked, all the Rockets have are the MLE and the trade exception (which can't be exchanged with the MLE). This trade would be great, but I don't know of a way to actually pull it off.
He may be soft, but he's a deadly shooter. With teams unable to collapse on Yao & T-Mac, this should open up more opportunities for them. He'd also give us insurance for the times that T-Mac is out. I can't see T-Mac's back ever getting any better. My feelings are that it's a degenerative condition & will only get worse as he gets older. With our MLE we can go after a strong rebounder like Evans & pick up a SG like Bernard Robinson, or someone else.
i think that would be a horrible trade, cuz luther will progress to become a spark off the bench, i still believe in swift, and the #1 pick?!, we could get a good pf in the draft liek tyrus thomas or aldridge, or just get the great shooter morrison, why would you wanan trade all that just for peja, who gets a lot of back spasms, just adding more injuries, so im sorry but i cant agree with you.
Atlanta might be another team under the cap to take Stromile as part of a trade for Maggette. That being said, I would still rather have the 22 year old we get with the #8 pick than an injury prone 29 year old Maggette. Now if we only had to give up Stromile and our #1 pick next year . . .
i would definitely do this. didn't he average more FTs per minute than any other player or was right up there with Kobe and AI. Before he got hurt this year, he was playing amazing.
Not so fast; Corey is a poor chemistry guy. His durability is also in question so it is not that much of a no-brainer. He is a great rebounding guard with size and length to guard 3s as well but he is not uhuru as far as we are concerned. That said, such a trade will not be the end of the world but we will be better served if we trade part of trade exception for Mikael Pietrus. What if we finish in the top 3 of the lottery, would you do the trade you proposed?
We can't since we don't have any cap space. You can't trade a pick for a player if you are over the cap just like you can't sign a free agent. Since Sterling is a cheaparse, he doesn't want to trade Maggette for a player since he'd have to match salaries at that point.
